Dr. Harry worked very hard for the past three months. As the days passed by, they were running out of food to eat, drinking water, and other daily necessities. The matter of food didn't concern the others except for Dr. Harry. He needed all the nutrition from natural sources rather than chemically formulated ones. They may have had the money to spend, yet the problem was they hadn't been out ever since they became vampires. Whether their bodies could handle the heat of the sun, blend with the crowd, or resist the temptation of blood, this matter kept them at bay, considering they might lose control once they smelled the scent of blood. They were beginning to crave more blood. The only things that kept them from losing control from thirst were the bags of blood stored at the laboratory, as well as Dr. Harry's own blood. He knew it wasn't sufficient enough to fill them up, but he had to find a way to solve that issue. He knew they didn't want to harm anyone; the murders they'd committed to all the people working in the facility left a great scar on their beings. Now he had to help them in any way he could, not just for them, but also for his own safety.
"GUYS! PLEASE COME OVER TO THE LABORATORY, I HAVE GREAT NEWS!!" came the announcement over the loudspeaker, which Li had set up so it could be heard anywhere in the facility.
"Seems like Dr. Harry made a breakthrough," Sofie said lifelessly as she stood up and frowned.
"We've been here for too long. Hope this one is indeed great news for all of us," Diego said as he closed Li's laptop and winked at her.
"Hey! You don't have to do that, you jerk!" Li showed her fangs in annoyance.
"Come on, guys, let's all head to the laboratory." Slacovich led the way, followed by the others.
At the laboratory, Dr. Harry prepared six red pills. He'd been working on them for the past three months, and now he was sure they were finally done.
"Great, you're all here." Dr. Harry's happy face made everyone curious.
"What's up, Doc?" Tyler studied the pills on the table, grabbed one, and smelled it.
"What's this?" Ara asked as she grabbed one herself.
"That's the great news," Dr. Harry grinned happily, making the others freak out.
"This isn't something that can poison us, would it?" Li raised an eyebrow as she crossed her arms.
"I guess not. It smells like blood," Tyler assured everyone.
"Let me tell you about it before you say a thing." Dr. Harry gave everyone their one pill.
"So, what is this then?" Sofie sat on the bed, pulling Slacovich to sit beside her.
"You know that I've been very busy the past few months. We've tried different experiments and gained new information from them. When Diego tried going out at midday, he couldn't even stay outside for a minute under the burning sun. There was also that one time when I asked you to be in your vampire form; I discovered something good then, too." Dr. Harry's excitement as he talked was very uplifting, which made the others feel at ease with high hopes.
"What about it?" Slacovich asked while caressing Sofie's back as she leaned on his shoulder.
"I've got two sets of blood samples from you guys, one in your human form and the other while in your vampire form. Your human form can withstand the heat of the sun. You can sleep at night and eat human food as well. All things done by humans, you're all still capable. It's just that you're all psychologically confused. If all of you can determine which is which, it will be a great advantage for you all. In your human form, the serum sleeps in your blood; when you're in a vampire state, it wakes up."
"Then that means when I stepped outside the facility and felt the heat of the sun for the first time, I raged and unintentionally activated the serum in my blood. Which only means, " Diego was interrupted by Tyler.
"We need to control when to activate it for us to be able to walk outside unnoticed," Tyler was getting the point.
"Yes, it's a matter of how you control yourselves. All of you need to work it out on your own. On to the next one: in your vampire form, this one's very interesting. Your DNA structures, once you're in a vampire state, are quite amusing. I believe if you focus on transforming into something else, your DNA will reconstruct. That's what I saw when Ara lost control, she somehow had a hump on her back. I thought at the moment she was going to let out some wings or something. You're all capable of turning into something. It's something we must figure out."
"That's something else," Ara said, unable to believe what she was hearing.
"What about the pill?" Sofie asked impatiently.
"All of you are grumpy these days. That's why this pill can help you. We don't have any blood bags left, and the only remaining source of blood is me. I'm afraid I'll end up dead if you all lose control, I might be your dinner. Heh. In order to save us, this pill was created by yours truly. I adjusted every content of it accordingly to your needs. I tried a few bits of it and mixed it into your vampire blood; the serum reacted and calmed down. This pill, if successful, will always keep your sanity. If I'm not mistaken, it will help you control yourselves in the face of temptation. The bad thing is, the effects will wear off eventually. I don't know when, but you're going to feel pain in your chest when it wears off. You may ask why, it's because the pill causes your heart to produce more red blood cells, making the serum sleep. You can still activate it, though, so you don't have to worry. Once it wears off, the serum rages in your heart, swallowing every red blood cell in your body. It's a cycle whenever you switch forms, but it's unnoticeable once you're full. When you start feeling thirsty, the serum in your blood gets more hyped, that's why you lose control. With the help of the pill, it will calm it down and give you time to hunt for blood. Use the pill as a blood replacement, then you can settle the score on how to satisfy your thirst. Real blood refreshes your body; the pill only keeps you stable temporarily. I still recommend that you figure out a way to have blood without hurting anyone. I'm the only one who can give you this, which means I'm useful to you guys." Dr. Harry gave them each a bottle of red pills.
"We're glad to keep you by our side, Dr. Harry." Slacovich shook his hand and smiled.
"Please, just call me Harry. Also, if I may, can I be part of your team?"
"You're already part of us. Just don't ask to be like us."
"I don't have plans. I just want to be of help. Most especially, we're facing something big. We must find a way to stop it together."
"Of course, Harry." Everyone smiled at him, and together they took a pill and immediately felt the effects inside their bodies.
When everyone was feeling better, they sat together in the meeting room and tackled the three points Harry had explained to them. They had to take action; the longer they stayed hidden in the facility, the more isolated they became without any news from the outside world.
"Slacovich, if we manage to successfully control our forms, what happens next?" Diego asked.
"I have set out plans, just waiting to be executed. We must focus on stabilizing our forms before we head out, or we might get caught in a situation if we're not prepared before leaving the facility."
"We can't go back to our countries just like that. I suggest we change our identities. We don't want to expose ourselves, right?" Sofie added.
"You're right. Li, can you do something about it?" Slacovich looked at her, waiting for an answer.
"Consider it done. The facility is highly equipped with high-end computers and has control over a satellite. I can erase all data about our previous lives and replace it with new information. We share common traits right now; we can just say we're siblings for show." Li connected her laptop to the supercomputer and hacked into different government databases, deleting all info about them. Thanks to the facility's security features, no one was able to track her down.
"I'm cool with that. But how about our names?" Ara made a good point.
"Wait, I'm opening a site right now that states something really off. Weird." Li scrolled down the page.
"What does it say?" Slacovich hurried to her side.
"It says a man named Volton Hellgazer rose to fame as he took over the largest oil company in the world. Not only that, but now he's targeting medical facilities, hospitals, and research labs. He kinda looks like us." Li seemed stunned.
"Could this be the one with the last vial?" Sofie peeked at the laptop.
"Sure is. That's Dr. Spencer beside him." Slacovich clenched his fists, and Sofie gently held his hand, calming him down.
"This site is intended for us. The lower part states, 'I'll continue to be great unless I'm taken down; no one would even dare, for I, Volton Hellgazer, have an army myself.' What does he mean by that?" Li was getting chills.
"He's declaring war and is totally prepared for us." Dr. Harry fixed his glasses and cleared his throat. "He doesn't know where we are yet. Even though Dr. Spencer's been here, the submarine she used was on autopilot and was set to self-destruct as soon as it left the facility. It's part of the security the generals implemented here. She survived it by the help of that man, I suppose."
"He's got an army of his own? How's that possible?" Slacovich punched the wall, breaking it down.
"I don't know how he did it. Or maybe he's bluffing. Either way, we must prepare to go to war." Diego sat back, calming himself as he felt his blood boiling.
"It's gone, the website just got deleted." Li informed everyone.
"Li, I want you to do something for us all. Someone from Hell gazes upon his own coffin. It's time for us to make a move. Only demons can survive the fires of hell." Slacovich smiled like a demon awakening from a deep slumber. "Demonfire, we are the Demonfire Clan. That Hellgazer will go back to hell."
Li started filling up new information for them, birth certificates, legal documents, and other details that needed to be done. She made them all ID cards, passports, and everything else they needed. They were all set to move out. They invested the facility's funding in one of the biggest entertainment companies, making them the biggest shareholder, 68% of the shares bought under Slacovich Demonfire's name. That was one way to make a grand entrance into the enemy's territory: declaring war publicly by fame and power before fighting without the public's knowledge. It was going to be one hell of a fight, with the human race as bait. Both sides had their own ways, the other with an army of his own, while they were just six capable individuals.
