Du Kaao swung his long sword to push Boi away, trying to rescue Kolov, but it was a step too late. He watched helplessly as Kolov turned to ash.
The twelve members of the Elder Council weren't all close to one another, but Du Kaao, being the fourth, had always shared a good relationship with Fifth Brother Kolov.
The two were in fact half-brothers, sharing the same father but different mothers, with Du Kaao being much older. He could practically say he watched Kolov grow up.
