Cherreads

Chapter 189 - chapter 189:

"Yoo yoo yooo!! We're at the last match of the day, and I think it will be the most fun and fastest!" The announcer yelled excitedly.

"Hmm, not sure about that." Kayda muttered, making the announcer look behind him at her with a confused look.

"Alright, can the contestants come to the arena!" He said, ignoring Kayda.

When the announcer spoke, a loud cheer erupted from the crowd.

After standing up from my seat, I checked my attire in the wall mirror located on one side of the room.

I wore a sports bra, baggy cargo pants, and my trusted boots. I secured my hair in a low ponytail to prevent it from getting in the way. Not that it will change anything if they do.

Nodding to myself, I walked into the arena, expecting to see a strong-looking Angel wanting to test out how paladins fight. I mean, angels do love showing off, seeing how they acted in the last group fight.

"Huh, I thought I would be fighting someone strong like Rachel. You look so weak." I said, annoyed, looking at the scrawny angel.

"Good evening, Madame Kitsuna." The angel said, giving me a surprising bow.

"I see you came prepared to lose."

"I have been told by the saintess that I didn't stand a chance." He said, not even looking like he minded losing.

"Saintess?"

"Yes, our godly saintess, who came back to us last year after being missing years ago." The angel said, sounding like he would even bow down to the ground Rachel walked on.

"... haah, I don't understand, but whatever." I said, shaking my head at his confusing words. Shaking my arms, I took a fistfight stance.

'I doubt he will be strong enough for me to use weapons. The fight will be too easy.' I thought quite arrogantly.

"Ah yes, they also said you might underestimate me." The guy said, taking out a lance and a body-size shield.

'He seriously is a shield paladin?' I thought, knowing that it was quite a rare class. Although he seems to be a special paladin, he might be an exotic class.

"Alright, ladies and gentlemen, let the final fight of the day begin!!"

On his words, I slammed my right foot into the floor, sending a white smoke cloud towards the guy, masking my movement. Busting out of the ice in front of the angel, I aimed a fist toward his chest.

Glancing at me, he moved his body-sized shield in front of him, blocking my fist.

Grinning at this, I opened my right hand and brought my left hand to the top of the shield, grabbing it. Planting my feet nicely on the floor, I threw the guy and his shield over me into the ground.

"Ugh," the guy grunted in pain as he moved his shield slightly, creating an opening for his lance to shoot towards me.

Jumping away, I made space in between us and gave him enough time to get up.

'So he is a special paladin. His defense seems standard for a paladin; his speed is a bit above standard. I don't know about his attack power. Sadly, I can't test that part.' I thought I analyzed him while I walked around him in circles.

"Ugh, guess I still need to learn a lot more about my class." The guy muttered to himself, standing up, getting in guard, and not looking at me directly but being aware I was there at all times.

Walking until I was in front of him, I dashed again.

Narrowing his eyes at me, he pulled back his lance before shooting it toward me. Moving to the left side a bit, I barely dodge the lance before grabbing it with my right hand, coating it with ice magic, and making the guy drop it.

"You don't know how to use a lance, so don't use it." I said, kicking the lance way out of his reach. Seeing this happen, the guy took the shield with both hands, trying to bash me, only for me to block it with my right palm.

"You also—" As I was saying this, he charged his shield full of mana before sending a holy blast at me, making me jump into the air to dodge it.

"Don't underestimate me too much." The guy said with some bravado.

"Pfft, you think too much of yourself." I said, appearing behind him with my hand on his shoulder.

"Wha!" Surprised, the guy widely swung his shield at me, missing me completely.

"Don't panic like that." I said this while driving my fist into his guts, followed by a headbutt.

"Pah!" With the wind knocked out of him, he dropped to his knees, breathing heavily.

"Augh!!!" Shouting in anger, he was engulfed in golden mana while standing up.

"Berserk?"

Slamming his foot down, sending a blast of mana at me, something I just swatted away with my bare hand.

'With Kayda's mana training, I will never have a problem taking control of the mana of other people in the air, well, except for Amari and Kayda-level mana control people.' I thought while swatting a few more mana bursts away, the guy attacked me with.

"Using my tricks against me will never work." I said, Annoyed and bored.

Hearing my words, the angel jumped into the air, taking flight.

"Air fighting? You seriously think this will help you?" I asked, tilting my head.

Not listening to me, he started eagle-diving at me with his shield in front of him.

"Now you lose sight of your opponent?" I said, moving to the side, letting him miss.

As he passed me, I grabbed the back of his neck, yanking him back hard.

"Yaa!"

Hearing a weird sound, I threw him away in disgust.

This is getting annoying.

Making a hand cannon, I pointed it at the angel. When I looked up at him, he looked confused at what was in my hand.

"Sorry, but you are getting boring." I simply said, pulling the trigger.

Boom!

With a loud bang, the angel's head disappeared, making his headless body crumble to the floor.

… turning around, I walked out of the arena with the entire arena being silent.

"She was playing around this whole time?" I heard one of the spectators say, confused.

Just as he said that, the crowd went into an uproar about wasting money and time.

"Not my problem." I muttered, walking around the corner only to be met with a glaring cat girl.

"Mom, what now?"

"Where have you been?"

"Planning."

"What are you planning?"

"Don't worry about it; it will literally do nothing against your plans. I can assure you of that." I explained my thoughts, hoping that Mom wouldn't get angry.

"Can you now? And what are my plans?" Mom said with a raised eyebrow.

"Hmm, well, 90% of your plans are ruined due to the changes that were made to the roster." I said sarcastically, making her glare at me.

"Also, I thought I would at least fight Rachel today? I mean, I didn't even see her the whole day." I added, trying to change the subject.

"That's because she is scheduled to fight Amari tomorrow morning." Mom said, sounding a bit worried, as all mothers do.

"Hmm, so I am here to get rid of all the fodder?" I said thoughtfully.

"Yeah, it seems so. Or for them to find out how strong you really are." Mom said, shrugging.

"Sigh, how annoying." I muttered, not really angry about it.
