The Wolf Family's massive army, having entered the Alps region, got stuck in the mire, while the Weisbach army did not engage them directly. Instead, leveraging their familiarity with the terrain, they dispersed a large number of soldiers throughout the mountains, frequently harassing the Wolf's supply lines from behind.
To make matters worse, it was said that the Swabian Duchy was experiencing a multitude of rebellions, causing cargo routes from Burgundy to Swabia to be severed. Transportation troops had no choice but to detour to the Lombardy-Verona route in the south, significantly decreasing the efficiency of the deliveries.
As the mountainous region remained unconquered and supplies arrived slower and slower, the morale of the troops noticeably weakened, and deserters had gradually begun to surface.
