Chapter 9
(It's been so long man, sorry for not updating, I lost some of my ideas for the story but I can still recall the plot points I came up with, anyway how have you guys been? Anyway you'll notice I changed his name and some other things in the previous chapters but nothing really changed much though)
[1st POV]
Thunk Thunk Thunk
The sound of a metal hitting something was heard in a deep forest
A giant cedar tree loomed over a shade, as we stood before it
Huff*huff*
Eugeo was panting heavily as he stopped swinging his axe, while I just sat in the shade watching him.
"Well, you only did 41 Eugeo, seems like I won this time" I smiled, I reached over to my side to get the water I had been saving for him
"No Fair, you only did 43, 2 more than me" he complained as I snickered
"Well a win is a win after all" I told him,
Hey don't hate the player, hate the game am I right?
"I'll catch up to you in no time" he says with a smile.
I just grinned in response.
I stood up, it's been 4 months since I've travelled here, I was slowly recovering from my trauma, but I still remember the way I lost… them, it was too sudden, the memories keep repeating in my dreams.
ig in" felt lost… I am lost…
I don't know how I got here, I don't know what I'm supposed to do anymore.
I frowned as I picked up the axe beside me, as I swung it at the tree, but I somehow lost strength as the axe went flying.
Eugeo went silent for a moment, but he couldn't hide his grin behind his hands and started laughing
"Hey!" I pointed at him as I got close "It ain't funny"
"It is though" he laughed some more, so I tickled him to teach hima lesson.
"Bahahaha" he laughed wildly, "Take this! My counter attack!" He suddenly flipped me over and began tickling me as well, this led to a tickle war between me and him.
"EUGEO! EIJI!" A girl's voice rang through the air.
"Alice!" Eugeo shouted back.
Alice was running towards us with a picnic basket on hand.
"Jeez, You two are goofing off again!" Alice scolded with a pout. "If you have the strength to argue with each other, how about I tell Garitta-san to increase the number of cutting strokes of you guys?"
This got our attention so we stood up and approached her.
"No anything but that" we told her synchronized.
"Just kidding" her face turned to a more playful expression as she approached as well. "Come on let's eat already"
She set up a picnic full of bread, milk and pie
"Yum! Let's dig in" As I tried reaching for a pie, but my hand got swatted away by Alice
"Wait, let me check the life" as she drew something in the air and the durability of the food was shown to us. "Whoa, the milk has only 10 minutes left and the pie won't last for another 15" she said in surprise. "Well eat fast and chew properly ok?"
"Yes" we both said as we began to dig in.
After a few minutes we were full and just sat in the cool shade of the cedar tree.
Suddenly we heard a giggle from our surroundings, Alice looked delighted as she took out a deck of cards, Yu-gi-oh cards.
Yup, I know right?
As she held onto one particular card I recognized even in my past life.
Key Mace
Its spirit suddenly jumped out of the card and started flying around us joyously. She has a little hat on her head while wearing a somewhat more medieval outfit, on its back was a pair of fairy wings and she was holding a little key like thingy.
She was Alice spirit, she always came out to play with us when we were hanging out in the open.
She went to Alice to hug arm while she just laughed at its antics.
Me and Eugeo looked at each other and chuckled to ourselves.
But seeing cards again… well it's not a good memory for me, ever since I arrived here, holding a deck of cards made me nauseous, I felt memories of my past life and the one I left behind come back to haunt me, so for these past few months, I hadn't touched a single card.
Alice and Eugeo understood and just let me be.
They talked about the food while I was just listening randomly, then something about what they said caught my attention.
They were talking about the legend of Bercoulli and the ice sword. I remembered this moment from the anime, I had to stop it.
"No!" I gave them a stern warning "It's too dangerous for kids to travel there, so don't even think about it" I raised my voice a little bit higher, if I could stop this then Alice wouldn't have to be taken away.
They both looked surprised as I shouted at them. I made them promise not to go and they just nodded wordlessly.
'Phew… at least I stopped that tragedy' I thought to myself as I pretended to pat my back and act smug…

But of course my worst nightmares still came true…

It was a sunny afternoon, I hung around with Eugeo as usual, helping him chop down the giant tree, but I could tell Eugeo was distracted by something, his grip of the axe was much tighter than usual and his eyes unfocused.
"Hey, hey, hey…" I snapped my fingers towards his face, he must have realized he was spacing out and waved his hand saying that he was just thinking for a moment.
"Just thinking about something…" his voice trailed off.
I was about to ask what it was about when we saw it, a giant wyvern flying in the sky as it went straight to Rulid village, seeing that we both ran towards the village.
Wait… don't tell me…
GOD DAMN IT, WHY ARE KIDS SO DAMN IMPULSIVE!
I looked at Eugeo as worry started to fill his eyes as he ran faster.
As we reached the village we saw it, the dragon was in the middle of the f center as the villagers gathered around it, the dragon wearing a saddle was held by a man in red armor.
No, no, no, no…
This can't be happening
"I am Deusolbert Synthesis Seven" the man in red armor introduced himself. "Integrity Knight of the Axiom Church, supervising the Norlangarth North Empire."
The people looked in awe as the knight stepped forward, but I knew this moment, it was the moment Alice will be taken away, I looked at Eugeo as worry clouded his eyes, desperately looking for Alice
"ALICE ZUBERG" Deusolbert shouted as the name reverberated across the village "I hereby arrest, detain and sentence you, for the violation of the taboo index"
Looks of shock spread to the crowd, clearly not ready for that announcement.
A picnic basket fell from somewhere to our right, we turned our heads sideways as we saw Alice drop her picnic basket in shock.
Alice gripped her clothes and went up to the Integrity Knight, surrendering.
"I am Alice Zuberg" She looked down, her eyes filled with tears "I-I'll surrender quietly" she whispered.
Seeing this I rushed forward in front of Alice, putting our hands in front of her as if it was a barrier.
"I-if you want her, th-then you have to go through me" I managed say out loud, but inside I was feeling fear again.
"Hoh? A child?" He said in a monotone voice that I didn't really know if it was amusement or something else
"EUGEO, GET ALICE AWAY FROM HERE, RUN! I'LL KEEP HIM BUSY" I shouted at Eugeo, but when I looked back and stared at him he just stood there frozen and sweating. "EUGEO!"
Suddenly I felt my breath get knocked out of me, I went flying and hit a stone wall of one of the houses, I felt my vision blur and darken slightly, but I managed to get up
"A-alice" I mustered out as I reached out my hand to her
Alice rushed over to me but a wall of flame blocked her path as the Integrity Knight stepped forward
"Alice Zuberg, we have wasted enough time here" The man spoke more cold than ever.
"A-Alice" I groaned, my body hurt, but I managed to stand up
I could see the fear in her eyes, the tears she was holding back, but I could see a glint of something in her eyes
But what came next was something even I never expected.
"Sir Deusolbert Synthesis Seven" Alice shouted "I invoke the right to challenge your claims in a sacred duel"
The winds srilled, as the sounds of everyone came to a screeching halt.
"A scared duel child? Are you sure about this?"
"Yes, if I win let me and my friend go" Alice said, determination filled her eyes "If I lose then…then I'll surrender quietly"
Alice challenged him? This… this didn't happen, no,no,no,no,NO!
"Alice sto-" I started, but a wave of dizziness came upon me and I fell down again.
Alic, even though she was considered a prodigy in swordsmanship and dueling in the village, there was still a huge difference in the quality of cards they hold.
Alice deck waa full of vanilla normal monsters of level 2's and 3's and her strongest attacking monster being a level 8 with 2850
But she was facing an Integrity Knight, influenced by Quinnela, who had the highest authority in this world, the Integrity Knights given special favor was in a different league of his own
"Then so be it" He moved away from her, each step echoing in the silence of the village, he held his hand up towards Alice, then started to chant

A voice spoke from the world itself as pixels slowly covered the village, the sun was covered and everything except the village was suddenly transported to another realm, the villagers were nowhere to be seen, but I was somehow transported with them.
I saw both Alice and Deusolbert taking out thei deck and putting it in the aie, where a duel disk suddenly appeared.
"DUEL!" They both shouted at the same time.
And I knew something bad was going to happen.

Man, I forgot how to write, I'll continue the duel next time, very very sorry because well, I don't really have much freedom in my school, they kinds restrict us in using gadgets so I can only write in my freetime, but ill try to write as much as possible, again sorry for the 3 year hiatus bye
