Astounded
This was the reaction of the entire village, they didn't expect that their strongest warrior would be taken out in just one hit.
Doja just wasn't just an ogre, he was a high ogre. The strongest an ogre could evolve.
It had taken Doja years of hard work and determination to get to where he was now. But to find out that there was someone who could just take Doja out in a single hit baffled them.
Plus the enemy was a human, which made it even more confusing, from the stories that they had heard, humans were just weak creatures for them to feast on.
"I won't kill you, but you have to answer some of my questions, is that alright?" Hale turned to the crowd as he asked this question
Clearly, he was just going to beat the answers out of them if they didn't comply with him, and everyone had gotten the hint that they should just answer his questions and let this monster go his own way.
"Dear honored guest, why don't you come to my house, I'm sure that you would find it comfortable there" An elderly and frail-looking ogre stepped forward with a cane in his hand.
He was as thin as a stick and Hale even wondered how can such a man have the strength to even stand.
"Ohh, and who might you be old man" Hale didn't let the appearance of the old man fool him and let his guard down.
He was in enemy territory and from all the movies he had seen on earth, the first ones to die are the trusting and naive ones.
"Did he just disrespect an elderly?"
"Does he have no shame?"
"We shouldn't even be helping him"
Clearly, Hale's earlier remark about the old man had struck a nerve or two as many people were against him staying at the village even though he was an outsider
"I'm just the chief of this humble village, I apologize for Doja's action earlier but you must understand that anyone's reaction would be that if an outsider had just invaded their village and a human at that. "
The old man quickly dismissed everyone and tried to calm the situation, his old age and wisdom had left him thinking in a logical way instead of thinking with muscles like the rest of them.
If this outsider could take out their strongest warrior with one hit then it would take about ten minutes to wipe out the entire village and no one would have been able to stop him.
Having reached this point in thought. He just wanted to get the human out of this village and if it meant bowing down to him then so be it.
It was better to lower his pride than to end up dead.
"Well, I suppose what you say makes sense though, and I apologize for my actions. It's just that I want to leave this God-forsaken place"
After hearing what Hale truly wanted the chief had a delighted expression on his face, one being that the human didn't intend to harm them.
And second, even if they didn't do something to him, he would eventually die.
"Well, I can tell you how to get out of this place, but you must be tired, why don't you come and rest at my residence?"
Hale thought about the offer for quite some time. But in the end, he decided to accept it
What could the chief do to him that the strongest ogre in the village couldn't?
The village chief started showing Hale the way to his residence. Even though the village wasn't that big, he could see that there were a lot of houses in it.
Thump
"Ahh, I'm so sorry!"
A little ogre, presumably a girl bumped into Hale.
Thinking that she was about to die, she quickly got on her knees and started begging
"Please don't kill me, I wasn't looking"
Seeing this, the village chief also joined in
"Forgive her, she's but just a child"
Watching this scene unfold in front of him Hale didn't know how to react
Although what he did before wasn't anything aggressive, to the village he had just become a tyrant.
This was the effect he had by defeating Doja, although he appeared weak to Hale, to the rest of them they could never reach his strength even if they tried for a million years.
"What are you saying?, I'm not the kind of person you think I am"
"Shoo just go away and remember to watch where you are going"
Hale quickly dismissed the girl and sent her on her way as he asked the chief to hurry up
Watching what had transpired, the village chief couldn't help but have second thoughts about Hale
After a ten minute walk, they arrived at what seemed to be a mansion
Or at least in the eyes of the ogres. To Hale, it looked like an oversized version of the houses that he had seen on the way.
Perhaps for some reason, he didn't notice it before but the design for all the houses was the same.
It was just that a different colour material was used for each house making them look more unique.
"Well, what can I expect from ogres?"
The chief who had just heard the remark wanted to rip his head off, but he knew that if he even tried then he would be dead on the floor
After heading inside the house, it didn't look much different than what Hale had seen in old times movies
Mud floor, everything seemed to be made out of mud, there were no doors but instead see-through fabric that hung in front of the doors.
"Would the esteemed guest like to have a shower?"
The village chief asked to which Hale quickly denied.
He had already had a shower at the lake and didn't want to know how ogres showered.
After having a seat in what seemed to be a guest's room, the chief asked a servant to bring them some food
After getting comfortable Hale asked the only question in his mind
"How do I get out of here?"
