Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 : Angel

At that very moment, Lin Ruo suddenly sensed a change within his own body. However, unlike Klein who experienced a clear vision upon digesting as described in the original work, Lin Ruo's understanding was a bit more muddled.

He realized that, just like Klein, he had managed to digest more than a third of the Hunter's Potion.

While the situation was dire, it was not unexpected. After all, Lin Ruo, a Sequence 9, had directly hunted down a Sequence 8, a Sequence 7, and even a Sequence 6, with his primary target being the scoundrel Capim.

Within the world of lord of the mysteries itself, by fulfilling actions that transcend one's own sequence, an individual could naturally digest Beyonder potions. Refer to Klein's experiences as the Bizarro Sorcerer, when the Pot Evil Spirit was shocked and the potion was digested a lot.

To put it simply, if Lin Ruo happened to provoke an angel while pretending to be an instigator, even the potion he had just consumed might dissolve within his mouth.

Of course, he had no certainty of his safe departure after digesting the potion.

Just then, Lin Ruo's spiritual intuition abruptly alerted him, prompting him to gaze towards a particular direction outside the window. Although his physical eyes saw nothing, his spirituality confirmed that something was approaching.

Lin Ruo knew it was the demigod from the Storm Church.

Without haste, Lin Ruo took out a set of tarot cards. After selecting the "Trial" and "Chariot" cards, he placed the "Trial" card on Capim's image, leaving the "Chariot" card by itself.

"I hope Mr. Fool won't be startled... But if Justice and the Hanged Man know about this, they might start weaving theories once more!" He chuckled softly, a sense of sinister satisfaction radiating from his heart's perverse delight and ritualistic essence.

Lin Ruo, a devoted future member of the Tarot Club, scattered all the tarot cards in the room except for the "Chariot" card, entered the hidden state once more using the secret badge, and then waited in stillness.

After roughly ten seconds, a distant howling wind brushed past. An elderly man with serious silver eyes, donning a black soft hat, descended from the sky.

He wore a black robe adorned with the storm symbol, representing the cardinal of the Storm Church, the Archbishop of Backlund, and the "Spellsinger of God," Ace Snake.

Almost immediately, "Spellsinger of God" Ace Snake took in the disaster left by the lightning strike on the restaurant and the room filled with tarot cards.

And Lin Ruo, who had slipped into a concealed state, spoke softly:

"I am not a Sequence 4 Apprentice Path. This is a fallacy."

"I am not a Sequence 2 Apprentice Path. This is a fallacy!"

Lin Ruo established two fallacies simultaneously—emulating the aura of a Sequence 2 Apprentice Path to appear as a real angel upon leaving the hidden state. Simultaneously, he simulated the powers of a Sequence 4 Secrets Sorcerer to ensure he wasn't annihilated immediately if the old Storm Church representative opposed him. It was a contingency to allow him to escape.

Following that, Lin Ruo emerged from his concealed state, revealing his true self without reservation.

"Spellsinger of God" Ace Snake, while surveying the restaurant's environment, suddenly jolted. He stared at Lin Ruo with astonishment, his hand poised to unleash lightning. However, he managed to rein in his impulse just in time.

His spiritual intuition convinced him that this was an angel.

An unusual angel!

Being temperamental didn't equate to being thoughtless. Even "Spellsinger of God" Ace Snake recognized that if he, as a demigod, engaged in a fight, he wouldn't necessarily triumph against his adversary. Besides, such a clash would likely obliterate the surroundings.

As "Spellsinger of God" Ace Snake pondered his options, an illusory door opened in mid-air beside him. A man in his forties with elegant maturity, adorned with golden eyes, materialized from the portal.

The golden-eyed man's gaze naturally landed on "Spellsinger of God" Ace Snake, noting the peculiar atmosphere. This moment of hesitation was brief; then he glanced towards the restaurant, where a young man with black hair, dark eyes, ordinary features, and an indifferent expression stood quietly.

An angel!

His spiritual intuition's prompt allowed the man with golden eyes to instantly grasp the source of the odd atmosphere.

"Ah!"

Sudden laughter erupted from the black-haired angel.

Both the man with golden eyes and "Spellsinger of God" Ace Snake shifted their attention, observing the black-haired angel who gazed upward, a faint smile playing at his lips.

"The True Creator is preparing for a grand, divine ritual in Tingen. I've been instructed to inform you," he announced.

Upon hearing these words, both "Spellsinger of God" Ace Snake and the golden-eyed man were taken aback. The curiosity led "Spellsinger of God" Ace Snake to consider seeking more details, but the black-haired angel merely smiled again, raising his right hand to touch his left shoulder, bowing slightly in their direction.

Then, he stepped back, and behind him, the mystic symbols on the illusory door emerged, allowing the black-haired angel to vanish through it.

In the ensuing moment, the illusionary door closed, leaving the two demigods to observe the "Chariot" tarot card slowly descending from mid-air, akin to a fluttering butterfly carrying indescribable symbolic significance.

This left "Spellsinger of God" Ace Snake and the man with golden eyes locked in mutual contemplation.

"By the way, what brings you here?" Suddenly, "Spellsinger of God" Ace Snake seemed to recall something. He lifted his head, eyeing the golden-eyed man with a touch of impoliteness.

Naturally, he had the right to inquire, as this area fell under his jurisdiction.

"I reside nearby," the golden-eyed man replied. The answer was flawless, and "Spellsinger of God" Ace Snake didn't probe further.

In reality, the golden-eyed man's swift arrival wasn't solely due to his close proximity. There was more to it—namely, his connection to the ongoing event—prompting his rapid response.

However, such details remained concealed from outsiders.

Thus, the man with golden eyes added, "There appears to be the storm's power here... Did the angel employ a sealed artifact related to the storm domain?"

This question was a probe, hinting at potential connections with the Mandated Punishers. Given the rarity of wild angels in this world and the scarcity of demigod-level sealed artifacts corresponding to the storm domain, he couldn't help but wonder if the Storm Church harbored a hidden angel.

"Spellsinger of God" Ace Snake cast him a sidelong glance. Initially irritable, he was now agitated. With a grumble, he retorted, "What does that matter to you!"

Just as the "Deep Blue Officiant" Randall Valentinus finally arrived, Lin Ruo, transported away by the Traveling ability under the watchful eyes of two demigods, finally returned to his abode.

He harbored no worries regarding the safety of the girls currently held in the underground area. He knew that a commotion of such magnitude would draw the attention of the church's official Beyonders, leading to the rescue of the captives. Such an outcome was inevitable.

Thus, Lin Ruo, who had stirred up a major incident while pretending to be an angel, stretched lazily, ready to harvest his current gains.
