In their later years, the Thompson Clan had prepared red lanterns and couplets well in advance, ready for the family to hang them up together on New Year's Day after giving the servants a day off. It would usually be a lively scene.
But this year was different.
Viola Thompson was not at home.
The house seemed to be missing something.
Mary Perryne stared out the window, her eyes filled with sorrow.
At that moment, Sawyer Thompson walked up to her and tried to speak in a light tone, "Mary, what are you looking at?"
"I'm wondering if Viola might suddenly come back and surprise us," Mary replied.
But outside the window, the distant view was covered with Lilly White snow; Viola Thompson was nowhere to be seen.
Unable to see Viola, Mary sighed lightly, "I wonder how Viola is doing?"
They still hadn't been able to get in touch with her.
Sawyer laughed, "Don't worry, Viola will definitely be fine."
Just then, Nanny Bruce approached with a smile, "Sir, madam."
