Chapter 5 - Hibernation

As they all clashed against me only one landed.

'I see, it's that type of clone. It seems I have a chance against her.'

This type of clone is where all of them are illusionary except for the main body. This type of illusion is to disorient and split the opponents attention.

I stood still waiting for them to hit me. They had a questioning look but they still charged head on. I closed my eyes and focused on the sense of touch. I could feel gusts of air passing by until something smooth and solid hit me in the face.

As soon as it landed I tried reaching for it as I opened my eyes. I managed to grab it firmly not wanting to let go.

"Gotcha and here's the punishment." As I pulled her in and my palm stretched towards her face.

My left hand forcibly grabbed her face as I drove the back of the head onto the hard solid concrete doubling it with activation of my fire ability. I started to walk away as I thought she was doomed even if I left her alive. She would be devoured or killed by nearby monsters or survivors.

My left hand was now utterly crisp. It was flaming hot, and it was so hot you could cook an egg on it. It started to sizzle.

'I need to find water or something to cool it down. I'm pretty sure there was water in my bag. Where is it?'

I started to walk around limping every now and then, exhausted from that fight. I found it hiding behind some crates in a different area of the warehouse. I unzipped the bag to get the canteen of water. I started to pour it over my hands in turns. The water evaporated as it came in contact with my left hand. It stung a bit like needles were poking at me. I grabbed bandages from the bag and started to wrap it around my palm and fingers.

'They should be good to use if I make sure to rest them for a couple of days.'

I went back to the fight scene to find the girl gone, nowhere to see.

'Where the hell is she?' I pondered as I became cautious of my surroundings. I heard glass shattering from behind me. I quickly turned around to see what it was...

There was nothing there but a window wide open with wind blowing in.

 'Oh no...'

I scanned the room in a hurry looking for the egg and there I saw it, exactly where I left it.

"Thank god." I sighed in relief. I carefully put it in my bag as my arms felt numb. I wore my backpack and walked away.

'I need a place to rest to heal my arms. It'll take about 3-4 months to fully heal.'

I wandered the city until I found a giant skyscraper. I decided to climb the stairs to the top even though there might be monsters there.

'Might as well try my luck.'

I reached the very top where I could hear noises of flesh and chewing. It was coming from behind the corner. I silently made my way to sneak a peak and I saw a person feasting and eating from the corpse of another man.

"Gruuaah '' The cannibal turned around and I saw a head with the eyes gouging out of its sockets. Its flesh is decaying, and its jaw unhinged.

 "Crap, it's a zombie."

Normally, you wouldn't have to worry about a zombie when it's by itself. Keyphrase by itself. when there's one zombie, there's bound to be more. It also didn't help that my arms were heavily injured.

 'Guess I gotta run.'

Then I made my getaway as it chased me. The sounds of us running attracted more zombies. In the end there was a whole horde after my ass. I took another corner when I saw a door to my left.

 'Time to take another gamble.'

I dashed through the door opening and swiftly closing it. I grabbed a table and boarded the door up with it. There was a lot of banging soon after but it soon stopped.

'Luckily the zombies have a short attention span.'

I turned around to see a skeleton with a green robe covering its bony figure. In its hand was a scroll that seemed to be dusty and made with papyrus paper.

"What's this," I questioned as I picked up the scroll carefully unwrapping it. "Damn it, it stings."

As my face slightly contorted as my hands ached like 10's of needles were poking it.

I slowly opened it as I read the scripture. All the information was about one thing. Rebirth.

A/N: This rebirth means reborn anew. Not literally dying and getting reincarnated or something like that.

This should help me heal my arms and actually make me stronger. The entire process will take half a year or 6 months. That should be fine as I don't have much plans.

"Okay so apparently I need to eat a lot of food before doing this."

I started to grab all my food and devour them as fast as I could, but not too fast to cause a stomach ache. After that was done it was time to do the final step, but before that I had to hide my items so people wouldn't find them.

I eyed the room to see a hiding spot when I saw there was a gap between some furniture obscure enough that wouldn't be seen at first glance.

'Seems like that's the best spot to hide my stuff.'

I grabbed my belongings and hid them there, including the egg.

Finally I sat down cross legged to the middle of the room and closed my eyes. As I did I muttered a phrase

 "Hakuna matata"

Then I drifted off to sleep.
