The name itself reveals that the so-called Type 3 Incendiary Shotgun Rocket is actually a cruise missile with a cluster-incendiary warhead. The peculiar name was chosen partly due to the pride of the Republic's technicians who could not accept the imperial-sounding term "guided rocket," and partly as a more fitting description.
To be termed as "missile" or "guided rocket," it must not only be capable of flying long distances using jet streams or rocket propulsion as thrust. More importantly, it must have guidance control capabilities, able to accurately hit the target overhead. Whether it's radio, infrared, thermal induction, or low-light imaging… as long as it has a guidance system installed and can perform precise long-distance attacks on targets using its own propulsion, it can be called by these two names.
