Passersby gawked. They glanced at the long line of luxurious cars in front of Madgar Pavilion, murmured something under their breath, and then quickly walked away.
Nia Mitchell, sitting in the passenger seat, opened the car door. Just as she was about to get out, Maxwell Peary pulled her back.
"What's wrong?" Nia Mitchell turned to look at him.
Maxwell Peary pointed to his own lips. "A goodbye kiss."
Her face reddening, Nia Mitchell lightly thumped his arm. Embarrassed, she made to get out of the car.
But his hand restraining her left wrist wouldn't let go no matter how she struggled, leaving her no choice but to turn and look at him.
