Two hours after capturing the dagons, we finally got a visual of Erisen through the drone we sent ahead.
Erisen is located on Tortus' western seas. It consists of a network of floating wooden docks and boardwalks and encompasses a couple of large peaks. The docks are lined with lamps made of flowstone. Like the docks, all the buildings are made of wood and have straw roofs.
Seeing the images of Erisen on the screen thrilled Myu, and she wanted to see it with her own eyes. So, I decided to take her to the deck.
"Papa, look, we are here, mama is there," Myu said excitedly, ignoring the fact that a bunch of dagons were piled up a bit away from her.
[Mama, just you wait, I am bringing Papa, just like I promised.] Myu's gaze shifted to Rihito as she recalled a promise she had made in the past.
Flashback
Myu, after playing with her mom in the sea, headed home. Along the way, she saw another dragon girl her age walking with both her mom and dad. Watching them walk by happily, she turned to her own mom and asked, "Mama, when will Papa be back?"
Remia, noticing her little girl asked her the troubling question, responded, "Myu, as I told you, he is away on important work; that is why he can't come back to us right now."
Myu, hearing those words, dropped her head in sadness. "But how long do I have to wait. You said he was gone right after I was born."
"Does he hate me?" Myu said with slight tears in her eyes.
Remia, seeing her sad girl, reassured, "Don't be sad, Myu. More than anything, your father loves you, and he has promised he will be back," she said with a warm smile.
Myu, noticing the slight sadness in her Mama's eyes, spoke up, "I will find Papa."
"Hmm?" Remia looked at Myu with confusion.
"I will bring him back, then we can finally live happily." She said, clenching her small fists.
"Is that so? Then I will be waiting for that day," Remia smiled.
"Mama,"
"Hmm…" Remia hummed.
"Tell me, how did you meet with Papa?"
"You want to hear that story again?" Remia looks at her daughter with a tender smile.
"I want to learn more about Papa. I will never let him go and will bring him here when I finally find him. Then we can live together."
Flashback End
After her excitement calmed a bit, Myu noticed them and tilted her head in confusion. For a moment, she wondered why they were piled up like that. But she ignored them and her attention was taken by seeing Erisen.
"Myu, do you know them?" I asked curiously. Her reaction was strange; seeing the dagons who were so fanatically looking for her now beaten up like that, she didn't even question it.
It was almost like she was used to seeing them beaten up. Her reaction made everyone curious about it.
"Hmm…" Myu looked back at the passed-out dagons.
"Oh… aren't they fighting with each other like always?" Myu tilted her head.
"..."
"..."
Everyone looked at her speechlessly, then their gazes shifted to the unconscious dagons, wondering what the hell they were doing in front of a kid.
"Myu, can you tell me how they usually act?" Shea asked.
Flashback
"Myu, I will protect you and Lady Remia. So, please call me father," said dagon No. 1.
"I will be a better father than that jerk who left…" Dagon No. 1 said with a smile that he thought looked cool.
"BASTARD! You are trying to get ahead of us, no way in hell, I will let that happen!" screamed Dagon No. 2, who also had similar thoughts to the former.
Dagon no. 3, in anger, grabbed the no. 1 by his clothes and started to shake him around, "You dare try to seduce Lady Remia using Myu? Despicable!"
"What of it? When it comes to being a father, I can be better than any of you jack-asses!" said the dagon no. 1.
"Shut it," said a dagon no. 4, punching the no. 1 on his gut.
"Stop spouting nonsense. No way that will ever happen. I will not let that happen," said No. 3.
"I am the only worthy one to stand beside Remia." Hearing that from Dagon No. 1's mouth, the other dagons became furious and started to beat him up.
"Bastard, that's Lady Remia for you," said No. 3.
"You dare call Lady Remia without honorifics? You have a death wish, don't you?" said No. 2.
No. 4 grabbed No. 1 in a headlock, as others kicked him, "Lady Remia will never belong to you."
Flashback End
"And like that, they all ways fight," Myu explained.
"..."
"..."
Everyone hears it, and their cold gazes are fixed on the unconscious dagons with sharp intensity.
Rihito, hearing that those bastards try to poach his daughter, his eyes twitch.
"I understand," Rihito said with a gentle smile that, to everyone except Myu, didn't seem gentle at all.
Myu, not understanding the mood, walked closer to Rihito, grabbed his hand and pointed at Erisen. "Papa, let's go meet Mama. She is waiting."
"..."
Rihito knelt down and gently patted her. "Of course, we will do that as soon as we dock. Ok?"
Hearing that, Myu excitedly nodded, "Ok~."
"For now, stay with Shea. I have some trash to clean up."
"Cleaning? Can I help?" Myu asked eagerly.
"No need, I'll be right back. You just stay here."
Rihito stepped away from Myu and moved closer to the unconscious dagons, looking down at them with a blank expression.
Shea saw Rihito's blank face, which somewhat reminded her of the first time they met. "He is irritated now."
Rihito materialised a highly durable rope and tied the dagons down. He then tied the other end of the rope to the Submarine deck then kicked them all off into the water.
Splash!
"..."
"..."
Everyone looks at him with a baffled look.
Hajime, seeing his action, nodded in approval like he had done the right thing.
Rihito, noticing their gaze, looked at them as if he hadn't just tossed a bunch of dagons into the water.
"What?"
"Don't what me. You just tossed them in the sea." Shizuku rubbed her forehead.
"Don't mind them, they are dagons, they will be fine underwater," Rihito said dismissively.
Tio and the other girls, seeing him like this, muttered, "he is quite vindictive, isn't he?"
Kaori smiled and said, "Even in our previous world, when someone tried to mess with him or Hajime? He always does something that causes trouble for the other party. There was that one time he confronted some bullies who were picking on Hajime and ended up beating them up."
"Huh?" Shea, Yue and Tio looked at Kaori with a baffled look.
"What did you say?" Tio asked. She couldn't believe it. Someone bullied Hajime. Are they nuts? Do they have a death wish?
"They bullied Hajime?" Kaori confusedly said.
"You mean that, Hajime?" Shea pointed with her finger.
"Yeah," Kaori said, totally confused now.
Kaori looked at Hajime for a second and understood something, "Oh, didn't you guys already know, he was not always like that. It had happened before he became like this."
"I see," the other girl nodded in understanding.
Shizuku, ignoring the chatter happening behind her, glared at Rihito.
Rihito, feeling Shizuku's sharp gaze, sighed, "Tohru, have any of them woken up?" I asked.
"Hmm…" Tohru understood what I meant and looked at the sea.
"Master, it's fine, they are still unconscious," Tohru responded.
"I see," Keep an eye on them.
"Ok," Tohru nodded.
Rihito, done dealing with the dagons, turned around just to get a hug from Shizuku, "I knew you won't leave them just like that."
"Huff, I only asked Tohru to keep an eye on them, not to pull them back. And I only did it because of you." Rihito said in pouty tone.
"I know, that's why," Shizuku, tiptoeing on her toes, placed a kiss on Rihito's lips.
"This is compensation for you," Shizuku said, her face turned red as she tried to run away.
Before she could escape, Rihito grabbed her hand and pulled her close, embracing her.
"I don't think that's enough compensation for me, I need a bit more," Rihito smirked.
Shizuku's red face turned even redder. "Stupid."
"Oh, is my princess feeling shy?" For some reason, when I see her like this, I feel a strange urge to bully her.
"S-stop, not in front of everyone." I pulled her chin, wanting to kiss her again.
"Ahhuumm!"
"..."
"..."
I felt two pairs of eyes staring at me from both the front and the back.
"Rihito, are you having a lot of fun, weren't you?" Shea asked, an ominous aura surrounding her.
"Master~" came the voice from behind.
Shizuku sees the chance and moves swiftly away, leaving me to deal with the mess.
[Damn it. Not again.]
…
As Rihito and the others approached Erisen, a woman with light sea green hair sat by the window in her house, anxiously looking outside, feeling helpless to do anything.
Remia reached for the pendant hanging at her neck. With a clicking sound, she opened it to reveal two images on each side.
The first image showed a man with crimson eyes smiling. He was wearing a white trench coat, underneath which was a black t-shirt, complemented by a long red scarf wrapped around his neck, and black pants with boots.
In the second image, the same man and Remia can be seen together. In the image, Remia is happily clinging to the man's arm and smiling brightly. Meanwhile, the man gazes at her with a warm and indulgent smile.
"Licht, what should I do? I wasn't able to save our daughter," Remia's voice trembled.
"Wherever you are, please find her and save her," Remia pleaded, holding the pendant in her hand as she prayed to the one person whom she was sure could find their daughter.
Unbeknownst to her for a moment, the pendant glowed crimson before the light vanished.
