Chapter 34 - A Humbling Experience

REGULUS POV

It was now an hour or two after dawn, unfortunately the kiss Olivia gave me has rendered me unable to sleep at all. So instead of lying on the bed, I jumped off it and left the room. As I approached the kitchen, one of the guards came up to me.

"Ah, good morning your majesty. What may I help you with today?" He asked bowing down in front of me.

"Hm…. Do you have any sort of training grounds here? Somewhere I can shed some sweat?" He asked as he grabbed a cup of coffee from a maid.

"Ah! We do have a training ground, Prince André ll uses it from time to time as he trains with Lucas. I could lead you there if you would want." The guard offered.

Nodding in reply I followed him outside of the castle to a beautiful lush garden and finally into what looked like a training ground. Bare sand along with some straw dummies and a container full of training weapons and padded armor.

Thanking the guard I drank my coffee, opening the small gate I watched from a distance as the prince was currently engaged with the same knight that gave me that death stare yesterday.

He looked to be very contemptuous with his sword skills as he had no problem dodging the prince's attacks.

"Ugh! Damn this!" The little prince said as he conjured a large wave of sand at the black haired man.

Unfazed, he flicked his hand to the right as a pane of glass blocked the sand, sending it everywhere across the training ground.

Rushing at the man the prince jumped up, readying a sand infused sword strike. But before he could swing his sword, he slammed into another pane of glass, falling into the floor.

"We said no magic didn't we young prince? You should get your anger in check, you were doing excellent there with your sword. But when you felt me let my guard down you decided to cast a useless sand attack." The man scolded the young prince as he sulked down the floor.

"Go drink some water." He said as he shaked his head towards the young prince.

Thought he would be more harsh considering his attitude towards me yesterday…. He's surprisingly tame.

"Regulus!" The young prince said, calling out to me as he ran towards me.

"Hi André! I see you look very dedicated to your training." I replied as I ruffled his hair.

"Please save me from Sir Lucas! He's so harsh when he trains me!" The young prince complained as he hid behind me.

"Hahaha I'm sure Sir Lucas isn't being harsh, it's just that this is necessary for your training." I said comforting André.

"How about you fight Sir Lucas! Maybe you can beat him! No one here can beat him! He's been training with him for a year but he's never tried to let me win! Not even once!" André said as he pouted at Lucas.

"It's because you need to know what life truly is, my lord." Lucas countered.

"That's kind of harsh you know? I mean he is a prince, so he won't necessarily be fighting people all the time. So how about you lessen the difficulty, maybe let him get a hit or two?" I replied to the knight, as I saw him stare at me with anger, just like yesterday.

"What do you know about fighting!? You're just some spoiled brat who was gifted a kingdom! And if you were an adventurer as you say, you might've just paid the guild to give you that AA title!" He retorted.

Oh the nerve on this man.

"Oh really? Then let's see if I am telling the truth?" I barked back, placing the cup of coffee to the side. I grabbed a wooden spear, leaving the padding as I walked towards the knight.

'Time to put this knight in his place' I thought.

"Not wearing the padding? Is it confidence? Or are you just another cocky royal." He spat at me, smirking at the remark.

"Your majesty! Watch me closely, I'll show you how to easily dismantle and defeat an opponent!" He yelled at the prince who nodded in reply, eagerly waiting for our little fight.

"No magic, just pure swordsmanship?" I asked, readying my spear.

"Whatever you want your highness." He replied, mocking me with another smirk on his lips.

Attacking first he swung his sword vertically, as I dodged it he had already managed to follow up with a powerful left hook, connecting with my head.

Tumbling down I felt my world spin for a few seconds. But instead of following up with an attack, he mocked me.

"See your highness, I told yo-"

With him distracted I cocked back my spear as I lunged at him, he blocked my attack but the force was enough as I sent him crashing straight into the floor. Finally I felt the adrenaline rushing through my veins.

Grunting he recovered, attempting to lunge back at me. I used my speed to sweep his legs, with him on the floor I tried to hit him but he rolled out quickly.

Now it was my turn, I launched a flurry of attacks with my spear as he struggled and barely blocked a few. With the final attack landing straight into his face, sending him down again.

As he stood up, blood was rushing down his nose as he looked at me with a vengeance.

He threw his sword at me, I attempted to block it but my spear broke in half from the impact.

Throwing the two pieces of my spear at him, I ducked forward, dodging a kick as I threw a gut punch straight into his stomach. Reeling from the pain he tried countering with an elbow, but that was too sloppy as I simply parried it away.

With all the time in the world, I kneed him straight in the face. Then I sent a powerful one-two directly at his kidneys, knocking him down to the ground once more.

But I won't stop, not after getting insulted like that. I kicked him in the face while he was down on the ground, then I picked him up and slammed his body straight into my knee, finally I stomped at his manhood, making him cry in pain.

"Remember this pain when you insult me!" I yelled as I grabbed the back of his head and slammed it on the floor. Blood splattered all over, but I did this again, making sure to engrave this into his memory. As more blood splattered as his face smashed into the ground.

As I tried doing it a third time, I felt a massive mana spike as I was sent flying into the air.

Landing safely I felt a jagged pain in my chest, as multiple shards of glass slammed into my body.

"You bastard!" Lucas yelled, his face bloodied and soiled with sand. He opened his palm as multiple large shards of glass formed around me. Then he closed it, as those shards of glass all locked on at me, panicking I sent a wave of lightning, rolling out the way as the two elements exploded.

"Shit." I muttered as I barely escaped his attack. "What the hell are you doing! We said no mag-"

"Fuck off!" He yelled as I failed to notice the overwhelming number of glass shards scattered around the sky. With the sun nearly covered by it he crushed his palm again, as the shards of glass flew straight at me once more.

"Lightning Storm!" I yelled as I closed my eyes, hoping the spell could block the attack.

As an explosion erupted, I braced myself for the pain, but it never came.

Opening my eyes I saw Gideon, who had somehow managed to catch all the glass shards with his hand. And somehow dispel my Lightning Storm as well!

Looking at Lucas, a man with an iron mask held a curved blade at his throat.

"What are you doing! You, Lucas! How dare you cast such a life threatening spell! To an honored guest as well! You should pray that the king won't destroy your mana core! Instead pray he'll kill you instead! Because that's the worst that could happen to you!" Gideon yelled at the knight as he simply looked at the ground in anger.

"Your majesty, you have a guest that claims he hails from your kingdom." Gideon explained as both him and the masked man bowed in front of me.
