Chapter 150 - Chapter 149 Gray is not that Lucky.

Karna was still flying towards the location of Cait Shelter. He knew that Nirvana's first target would be to eliminate the last of the Nirvits, who was now posing as the chief of a village filled with illusionary beings of his own creation. Karna didn't want to search for Nirvana directly, since the chances of losing his way were very high. If he found the village, he could ask the chief to show him the direction of the ancient city and then locate it on his own.

He wanted to go to Nirvana not only to complete the quests assigned to him, but also to find the mechanism of the weapon that could reverse the composition of anything into its direct opposite. Even if the earlier Nirvits had destroyed themselves by overusing the weapon to convert darkness into light, Karna suspected it might have been because they hadn't completed the spell properly. After all, they were irresponsible enough to experiment with it on an island and leave its people cursed with the aftereffects. So the side effects they witnessed may have only become apparent when it was already too late.

Karna felt he might reach a new height in his versatility of magic if he managed to find the spell and combine it with one of his powers. But even thinking about it sent a shiver down his spine. He felt like the system was giving him an even more judgmental stare due to the workload he was currently adding on the already stressed out creation.

Suddenly, a message appeared in front of him. Expecting a harsh scolding for the thoughts he had entertained, he groaned and opened it—only to be surprised at the notice filled with information that he got.

"So, Karna completed the problems in his dimension and completed his quest, huh? Good for him. I still remember the day I was informed about his existence and that ridiculous 'gift' of having to help him once. and it looks like he even has a child who inherited the power of the forces within her.

And naming the child Cana. That's surprising.

But it's good that he accomplished what he set out to. Still… I'm worried about the next truck victim who ends up meeting him."

Karna sighed. He hoped that the next guy wouldn't die the same way he and Inazuma had. He still had trauma about the truck that had fallen on top of him while he was in an alleyway. Even Inazuma had mentioned when they met that during the beginning of his career, he had difficulty goin near trucks with his superspeed as he had flashbacks of his life going in an instant with the last thing in his sight being a truck that miraculously appeared and crashed on to him.

As he was thinking this, he sensed the dragon core of Frostborn within his bag emit a few pulses of magic. He took it out and found that Frostborn wanted to speak.

"What's the matter, Frostborn? You want to talk about something?" Karna asked.

"Yeah, kid. I wanted to talk to you about your earlier suggestion—using this Lacrima to turn that Stripper Ice-Make boy of yours into a Dragon Slayer."

"Yeah, Igneel and Raijin must've told you about him, right?"

"They did, kid. But sorry—he won't be able to become a Dragon Slayer using my Lacrima," Frostborn said with a certainty that caught Karna off guard.

"Why? Other than that stupid habit of stripping without even realizing it, I don't see any problems with him," Karna asked, genuinely concerned that Gray might miss a great opportunity over a misunderstanding.

"Oh, that's not the issue at all. Character-wise, there's nothing wrong with the kid. Plus, I approve the natural way of living without clothes. You humans are the only ones who are worried about those things. Look at us dragons, we are naked as the day we were born and we are extremely comfortable"

Karna had no idea how to respond to that, so he stayed silent until Frostborn continued.

"But you'd be using my Lacrima as a catalyst to create a second-generation Dragon Slayer. And you need to understand—dragon Lacrimas are tied directly to the potential we were born with, not the power we gained later in life.

That boy's strong and kind, sure. But his potential isn't high enough to handle my raw energy. It's not just about strength—it's about potential and willpower."

"So what do you suggest? I'm trying my best to increase the number of Dragon Slayers to fight Acnologia. Even if we develop enchantments to temporarily grant someone Dragon Slayer magic, it can only be done by someone who already is a Dragon Slayer and knows enchantment. And when we face Acnologia, we can't afford to have even a single Dragon Slayer missing.

Plus, if the enchantment wears off, most fighters will be useless against him—basically cannon fodder," Karna said, clearly frustrated. Frostborn nodded slowly in agreement.

"Yeah, kid, I get it. But don't worry. I found someone else with the right potential—someone Igneel remembered from your guild's memories when I presented your plan."

"Who?" Karna asked, curious now.

"The girl named Ultear. That child has enormous potential. Her affinity with ice magic, inherited from her mother, combined with her innate magical strength—which reached S-Class level even as a child—makes her a far better candidate.

If she undergoes the procedure, she has the highest chance of success. But she'll still need the willpower to endure the pain. And no—she can't use anesthetics or any numbing agents. The pain from implanting a Lacrima is like a baptism—physical, mental, and soul damage all at once. That's the price for gaining the power to harm one of the strongest species ever born of life and magic."

Frostborn's voice turned grave.

Karna remained silent. He could only conclude that Gray was simply unlucky—not destined to be a Dragon Slayer in this lifetime. Still, he knew that Gray's father would eventually pass on the Ice Demon Slayer magic. Karna just had to ensure that power was developed far more than in canon, especially since the system had warned that the demons they would face would be even more powerful than in the anime.

But for the matter of Ultear...
