Aurelie had just taken her shower and was dressing up for a day of lying in her bed reading when her phone rang. She froze as she recognised the ringtone. The hospital!
Had something happened to Mara? With her heart beating in her throat, she took the call.
"Hello, this is Aurelie Engel," she said.
"Miss Engel," the caller said, "Your sister's doctor, Dr Zieman told us to tell you that she has woken up."
Aurelie felt her legs turn into noodles, she sank onto the bed.
"What did you say?" she asked.
"Your sister has opened her eyes," the voice on the other end of the call said, "Please come to her side."
"Alright," Aurelie said her voice trembling with an overload of emotions, "I'll be there as soon as I can."
She thought she heard the woman on the other end of the call say something before she hung up the call. She raised a hand to her cheek and it came off wet. Mara was up. Mara had opened her eyes!
