Wei Anjing was dubious; her mother was not good at speaking, and as soon as she started talking, her gaze would flicker. However, she didn't press the matter—her mother couldn't possibly know what she was about to do next.
Wei Anning stepped into Dongshan Villa as night fell. The twilight on the horizon was heavy and somber, and the entire villa was shrouded in the colors of night. She stood at the garden entrance, gazing into the distance. After a long while, she finally gathered the courage to walk inside.
The villa was brightly lit inside. She entered the foyer, bent down to take out a pair of slippers from the shoe cabinet, and noticed another pair placed next to hers. She froze for a moment, then slid her feet into her slippers and headed for the living room.
The butler approached her, asking if she needed him to prepare dinner.
She shook her head. "I ate outside already. I'm going back to my room first."
