After introducing the Love Room, Eliza brought them to the Death Chamber.
Just as she was about to turn the knob and open the door, Eliza hesitated a bit.
Although she knows Andy has already been inside the British Department of Mysteries' Death Chamber and is aware that they don't lack willpower because they both successfully undergo magic transfiguration and the Obscurus method Grindelwald talked about. She is still hesitant because she doesn't want to go anywhere near that arc and experience that awful feeling again.
"Is it the Death Chamber." Andy asked in a definite tone.
Andy looked at Eliza, who turned after he interrupted her inner struggle, in the eye.
From the fact that she already reached for the door, it didn't seem like she couldn't open it because of an Unspeakable contract.
Looking at her eyes, Andy felt her tumbling emotion and realised what was going on, remembering how he felt when he first got near the arch.
"Um... I just want to see whether both Death Chambers are similar, so there's no need to explore the whole chamber or go near the centre." Andy said after thinking for a moment and turned to look at Grindelwald before continuing.
"If you don't feel like going in or can't open the door due to a contract or some other reason. You can wait here while we- I-"
Seeing Grindelwald nod, Andy finished, "While we check out the room."
Hearing what he said, Eliza hurriedly explained, "No, it's not that I can't or don't want to go. If anyone, a human or other creature, even if an animal, goes near the arc, all the positive emotions in them will be stripped away, and it will make them hallucinate; with enough time, they will become pessimistic enough to kill themselves."
Eliza opened the door and continued, "If they are seriously affected, they can't recover on their own; we need to send the affected person into the Love Room to make them regain their positive emotion."
"But without enough willpower and mental strength, those affected by magic in the Love Room will become obsessed with things they love and like – like money and killing genomes."
"The magic inside is a powerful version of the love potion. Elixir to Induce Euphoria and Amortentia are created after studying the magic inside."
"With just a little opening, the magic will start to spread outside swiftly. That's why that room is locked and sealed."
Eliza stopped her explanation after they entered; just after stepping in, they felt the gloominess and chill, though Andy was unaffected.
The chamber looked identical to the one in Britain. Andy confirmed the arch here connected to the death dimension as well, feeling the power of death.
This confirms the Departments of Mysteries with the Death Chamber and Love Room have entrances to the death dimension, and for some reason, they block the positive emotion of the souls that go through these entrances inside the Love Room.
Thinking about all the questions and mysteries, Andy took a deep breath and determined to find answers for them this summer.
This increased Andy's resolve to join the Department of Mysteries this summer.
Feeling the slight chill and gloominess even at the edge, Grindelwald fell into deep thought.
So he is studying the power of love to counter this power?
Is this the great adventure he was talking about?
Is it because of Ariana?
Does he want to find out where the death would end up?
Remembering his goal of uniting the wizards and making them strive for the greater good of the wizarding world and making Andy feel a bit of a sense of belonging to the wizarding world. Grindelwald resolved himself.
It is not the time for me to follow you on the adventure; I have many things to do.
"Let's leave." Looking at the duo, who were in their own thoughts, Andy snapped them back to reality and walked toward the exit.
Closing the door, Eliza reverted back to her usual self after taking a deep breath and took on her guide role. "Let's visit the Rune Room."
"Rune Room?" Andy muttered.
A room to study ancient runes?
How would they study the runes, though? Inscribing different rune combinations and trying to create a new ability?
"Yes, this room is a special room for us, with a historical connection to this land."
"It contains an ancient relic of a wizard who tried a now-lost Odin ritual in the hope of gaining the power to understand runes."
"If not for Mr Nicolas Flamel, we would still be known throughout the wizarding world for Alchemy and Runic study," Eliza said in a tone laced with slight frustration.
"Nicolas Flamel?" Andy murmured, thinking about Beauxbatons Academy of Magic, which is known for its specialised and advanced alchemy course thanks to Nicolas Flamel's fame and his help.
"Hm. Unlike other geniuses who would make one or two discoveries in their lifetime. Thanks to his long lifespan, Mr Flamel published many discoveries for six centuries. Which made France known for Alchemy."
"But now he has returned to the embrace of magic; we will soon show the world our superiority in Alchemy and Runic study," Eliza said in a high tone as they reached the door to the Rune room.
Andy and Grindelwald looked at each other and smiled wearily.
When they entered the room, Andy and Grindelwald looked around.
The ceiling showed the night sky, with stars dotted around. It seemed to be enchanted to show the sky outside, like Hogwarts' Great Hall.
The walls are covered with glowing inscriptions of ancient runes.
The ground is covered with soil and rocks. Grasses and bushes are growing all around.
A twisted, charred, humanoid corpse was hanging upside down on a big Whomping willow at the centre of the room; the other end of the black rope that was used to hang the twisted corpse on the tree was wrapped around the ancient well beside the tree.
Although the facial features of the corpse appear blurred, Andy can still see the expression of agony on it.
A mouth that looked like it was perpetually screaming from some kind of horrifying torture and an empty right eye socket that, swirled into half the head, seemed to be looking at its torturer's soul.
Only the left eye seemed normal in this whole corpse, despite the lack of pupil.
"Is this the 'relic' you were talking about, ma'am?" Andy pointed at the corpse and asked in a confused tone, with a big question mark that seemed to appear above his head.
No matter how he looked, it still looked like some kind of cursed corpse.
Eliza looked at Andy, turned to Grindelwald, who also seemed to have a confused look on his face, and took out her wand with a smile.
"Accio chicken."
"Stupefy."
After casting two spells, Eliza walked to the well with the chicken in her hand and dropped it into the bottomless well.
"This well, rope, and corpse. These three combined are considered a relic."
"After throwing a live sacrifice into the well, the corpse will become a bit active. Then, with its help, we can try to understand the runes in this room." Eliza slowly explained, looking at the corpse.
After a few seconds, the corpse seemed to wriggle a bit, the empty eye socket swirled inside, and the pupilless left eye glowed eerily under the ghost claw-like tree.
Then, the glowing inscriptions on the walls seemed to change.
When Andy looked at the Kenaz (ᚲ) rune, it appeared like a blazing fire in his eyes.
All runes seemed to illustrate their true meaning now.
