I got an idea after listening to Lucas do his villain speech. He said the world we were in was created through utilizing reality, soul and body magic. And thinking back on it, Katarina was able to use spells despite not having any mana. I put together all of these and realized that reality in this world could be manipulated with one's will.
Therefore, it was possible to break reality if your will was strong enough. And after breaking every bone in your body, almost being crushed on a cellular level and sticking with training that went beyond masochism, you kind of develop a strong will, regardless of your intentions.
