Weeks passed, and Ariel didn't pick up the phone or call. Dimitri and Regin have taken great care of my son and me. Being nearly six months pregnant, I'm starting to show. I only gained thirty pounds with Aodhan, and the doctor told me I wouldn't be getting much more significant than my first, so I wasn't worried.
"Hey," Reign entered my room.
I was standing in the window doorway, watching the sunset.
"Are you hungry?" Reign asked, "Do you need anything from the store?"
"Why do you love me?" I asked.
Reign ran his hands through his hair, "No foreplay, just straight to it. Truth be told, I don't know myself. When I close my eyes, I think about fucking you. Every time. I would love to have you to myself, but Dimitri also loves you."
"How do you know that?" I questioned.
Reign walked gently towards me and tenderly held my left hand in his right, "Do you truly think he or I would endure knowing that you will be with whomever you want, and we'll never leave? Now that you're pregnant with another baby, it's even harder to think of ever leaving you."
Reign brushed his knuckle against my tiny baby bump.
"What if I can't be the loving, sweet Mom or wife?" I asked.
"I already know you," he reminded, "I love you for who you are."
"I'm not trying to jab, but I've had others tell me the same and break my heart," I confessed.
"I know my father-"
"Tanya," I corrected, "She may have been faking it with me, but I genuinely loved her. The way I felt when she told me the truth and then watched her die."
"You loved her?' he clarified.
"I think so," I whispered while wiping the silent tear trickling down my cheek.
"Is that why you're treating Ariel like you are now?" he asked.
I glared, "Don't do that."
"Come here," he hushed while giving me a warm bear hug to ease my pain, "You need to be you. Otherwise, you'll regret it."
"What if being who I am is bad enough?" I questioned, "After all the bullshit, truth be told, I don't know what I'm capable of."
"I think you know what you want," he admitted before kissing me passionately, "Now take it."
Smirking, I pecked him on the cheek.
"Am I interrupting?" Ariel interjected.
"You don't know how to pick up the phone?" I sneered.
"I pick up the phone?" Ariel Retorted, "After how you treated me?! I'm supposed to do as you say?! Who the fuck do you think you are?"
"The woman that you love," I snorted.
"I'll go check on Aodhan," Reign hushed before exiting.
Once Reign left, Ariel stood there, pouting.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"You!" she spat, "You made me think this was going somewhere! After all these years together and after that night, I thought things were changing between us.
"They are-"
"Yes! Because you're pregnant!" she interrupted, "By one of them again!"
I rubbed the headache forming at my temples.
"You think I don't know this? I'm due in three months, believe me, I know! I didn't expect this to happen. I never thought that we would end up how we did that night. I never expected to be pregnant again!"
"Why make me think-"
"I didn't make you think anything," this time I interjected, "We fucked, and it was great. I found out after that I was pregnant."
Ariel scoffed and began walking around my room, "You truly can't see that I care about you?"
She sat on my bed, her head hung down in sadness.
"What do you mean?" I asked while kneeling in front of her.
"That night meant more to me than it did you, clearly," she sighed, "It was the most amazing-"
