From the very moment Lunaria appeared its curved blade glowing softly, its presence slicing space around it. Darkseid felt it, a deep, gnawing premonition.
Without hesitation, his entire form blazed with his Omega Effect in preparation. The deadly aura bathed him in molten red, like a walking star, casting long shadows that bled into the folds of warped space. His mass warped time itself, weighing down the reality around him.
Then he saw Toneri's lips move.
"Illuminate... and harvest the void…Lunaria."
In that instant, Lunaria hummed a deep, resonant sound, as if awakening from endless slumber. The blade pulsed once, like a heartbeat of pure annihilation.
And Toneri? Gone.
Darkseid's Omega-wreathed form and his sheer temporal mass were the only saving graces. His instinct honed over eons gave him a fraction of a microsecond to react as a scythe swipe carved toward him, aimed cleanly to bisect him at the waist.
Darkseid moved. Faster than light and traveled thousands of miles in a blink, space tearing behind him as he fled.
And yet… Toneri did not pursue. He stood, Lunaria resting lightly in his grasp, he was as studying the weapon as if listening to it whisper secrets.
"Hmm... the problem with untested weapons is the probability of them working as you want... or as you think will always be 50-50."
Toneri's voice drifted across the void, carried by chakra currents that seemed to ride the folds of space itself.
Darkseid's gaze dropped.
He felt it, a sting that wasn't there before and he saw the reason why. It was icor spilling freely down his side. A deep gash.
'I dodged that attack... and yet...'
His crimson gaze lifted, locking back onto Toneri. The boy-god tilted his head, smile soft.
"What? You expect me to tell you how that happened?"
"I'll leave that to you to figure out."
And then it came without wasting any more time. The next strike was just as fast.
Lunaria was swung so fast that reality froze around it. A matrix of shimmering, shifting colors of crimson, emerald, silver, yellow, blue like a rainbow raced across the void.
And FWOOOOOOOOOM space itself seemed to convulse.
Darkseid was already moving, but the blast caught him at the edge. The matrix expanded like a lattice of destruction, breaking down physical matter and spiritual energy alike, dismantling the components at the most fundamental level erasing them utterly.
It swept through one half of Uranus. The planet wasn't shattered.
It was engulfed and simply ceased to exist, severed along an invisible line. The matrix surged further and engulfed Pluto as well consuming the dwarf world in an instant.
Toneri stood silent, Tenseigan gleaming as he surveyed the void where planets had been with a satisfied nod.
"Sei Chōseki Kinbō Tensei Baku."
(Orthoclase Wheel Reincarnation Explosion)
His gaze fell on a small, defiant coalescence of crimson the remnants of Darkseid's Omega energy, stubbornly holding form despite annihilation's touch.
"Hoo... so you can survive that much... good."
Darkseid emerged from the remnants of the matrix's devastation bleeding from torn flesh, blackened armor hanging in tatters, his breath heavy. His body pulsed faintly, his power flickering as his mind raced.
'His attacks... they're ignoring space...'
Toneri's eyes narrowed, reading the thought in the titan's glare.
"Ah... looks like you've figured it out."
Lunaria pulsed gently in his grasp as Toneri spoke, voice low but clear.
"Lunaria delivers my strikes instantaneously to the point I will. Without fail."
In his mind, Toneri ran through the scythe's nature.
'It would seem that Lunaria can harvests the space it cuts through, storing it as fuel creating bridges between where it is and where it will be. Every swing seems gather more of that harvested space, weaving a quantum thread that let its attacks bypass distance entirely. A form of layered bridge between points in existence the scythe swung, and the cut simply was… interesting.'
His gaze drifted briefly to the wreckage of the planets.
"I would've liked to continue this... but it's time to end it."
That was all Darkseid needed. His Omega Effect surged to its absolute limit, his power flaring so bright it made the void bleed crimson, his aura tearing open cracks in reality itself.
But Toneri was gone.
He reappeared atop a drifting asteroid, far away, Lunaria held low at his side. One Truth-Seeking Orb floated above the blade and melted into its edge, the black mass fusing into the weapon with a dull, chilling hum.
Lunaria vibrated, its form now quivering with the power of obliteration.
Toneri swung and this time there was no flash of light or excessively loud noise or spectacle.
Just one motion.
Where the scythe passed reality opened like torn paper. A vast black blot, like an endless wound, appeared where Darkseid had stood. For hundreds of thousands of miles, space split apart the structure of existence peeled back, exposing the raw, seething void beneath all things.
Stars behind it bent and vanished as if swallowed. Matter and energy alike ceased, consumed by the naked nothingness.
The rip spread, jagged edges twitching, as if space itself and was hurriedly struggling to reknit the catastrophic wound Lunaria had carved.
In that moment Darkseid faced something not just capable of destroying matter…
…but capable of scything existence itself.
