Chapter 200 - Class

Chapter 200 Class

The kids streaming into the room greeted the teacher with a "Good morning!"—a phrase they had learned in class. Some were excited, while others appeared weary and spoke in tired voices. They took a moment to find their seats, arranged in organized rows facing a glowing board. Once everyone settled down, the kids began to wonder about the mysterious board and concluded it must be made of magic since they knew their camp had never owned a board like that before.

Curiously looking around, the kids noticed no extra chairs left out, leading them to believe their teacher had anticipated how many kids would come. A quiet buzz of chatter arose as the children speculated amongst themselves. Just when it seemed the noise would grow too loud, Lucia, controlling Aleshia's body, stepped forward and quieted the group by clapping her hands.

The sudden noise immediately captured everyone's attention, causing them to sit still in their seats and quiet down. Afterward, Lucia returned to the magic board and wrote some basic characters in the human language. At the same time, she projected a smaller version of the board with the characters onto each child's desk so they could see and trace over them.

"Can everyone see the words on your desks?" Lucia asked, her voice filled with concern.

Lucia had previously established a rule in class to gauge kids' reactions: they could either say "yes" or raise their hands if they were too shy to speak up. In response, the kids did a variety of both.

After confirming the raised hands and verbal acknowledgments, Lucia said, "Alright, everyone, do you still remember what I taught you before and how to write it? If you do, please begin writing about what we have covered."

After Lucia spoke, a shard from the magical board on each child's desk rose and floated into their outstretched hands. The children had grown accustomed to this display. While some held their shards awkwardly, most had learned how to grip them comfortably and grasped them in their unique styles.

After allowing the kids to write their words on their magic boards, Lucia waited until everyone had finished. Once all the kids had finished, she copied each magic board and brought them to the large magic board. After carefully examining each child's writing, she added simplified, bold strokes next to the words to assist the ones who may have had less precise line quality.

"Good job, everyone!" Lucia said encouragingly. "If you check on your boards again, you'll see what you can improve on." Afterward, she approached each child and had them pronounce the words they wrote.
