"Mallory what the hell do you mean break off the engagement?"
Standing her ground she responded calmly. "We both made an agreement to help each other out, you'd get the money you needed to return to the Grayson family. And I could get away from being married off. However," her tone sharpened.
"I wanted to get away from all the toxicity of my family, and not become a victim of the nasty competition your family has going on. I just want a peaceful life, Matthew." She voiced out her thoughts, leaving Matthew stunned that she could even have these ideas to begin with.
