They both targeted each other with their respective ki attacks. It was the first time Bulma had seen Goku use his tail as the source of his attack. It caught her attention, but she would ask about it later.
For now, she just wanted to fight! The energy marble on Bulma's finger emitted a thin energy beam that shot toward Goku. He also fired his Ki attack, but it was much thicker than his sister's.
Their energy attacks collided in the middle of the arena. Instead of focusing on fighting by pushing their Ki toward their opponent, they separated from their attacks and fired new streams of Ki at each other.
They went all over the arena, constantly shooting energy bolts at each other and causing explosions and missed attacks. Whis had to create an energy barrier over the battlefield to avoid injuries.
Why did he do it? Muten Roshi asked him to, after convincing him with a new type of food he had not yet tasted: ramen. Thus, the fight broke out with much more ferocity than before.
"Kame Hame Ha!" Shouted Goku. He charged this characteristic energy attack between his hands and launched it toward Bulma.
"Kame Hame Ha!" Deciding to imitate her younger brother, Bulma performed the same attack. However, the energy beam she fired was always a purple color.
This time, they had a classic power clash. Both Ki cannons collided in the air, and small pieces of energy splashed everywhere. But Bulma took the opportunity to open her mouth and generate a small orb of ki. She fired an attack through it, taking Goku by surprise.
The sudden attack from the blue-haired girl hit Goku squarely, causing him to lose his concentration. This made his Kame Hame Ha falter and be covered by Bulma's. Now, this Ki attack was very close to Goku's body.
"That's cheating!" the boy shouted, trying to avoid the energy beam and reinforce his own Kame Hame Ha. But it was too late. Under Bulma's smile, an explosion completely covered the Saiyan's body.
"Come on, I know you're in there," Bulma said. Sensing Goku's altered emotions, she used her ki perception to determine that the boy wasn't too weakened. His power was increasing.
A roar cleared the smoke covering Goku's figure. The huge image of Ozaru appeared behind him, and he appeared floating in the air, covered in a thick red aura, burning stronger and stronger.
"Hehe! Bulma, I've gotten stronger, too!" Goku smiled and touched his nose before pointing at his older sister with his hand outstretched in the shape of a claw.
Five energy spheres emerged from her body and changed shape into large spikes made of crimson ki that floated in the air, resembling a claw.
With a wave of his hand, the spikes quickly floated toward Bulma, trying to hurt her. The girl built an energy shield made of hexagons around her body, but her blue eyes trembled slightly at the sight of the cracks that appeared.
There was a strange connection between the spikes created by Goku. As if replicating a huge creature, they easily crushed Bulma's shield before coming dangerously close to her body.
Strands of purple energy erupted from Bulma, striking the energy spikes controlled by Goku. The collision of the attacks caused a terrible screeching sound, followed by an explosion.
Bulma's figure quickly emerged. Above her head, a purple halo vaguely appeared, and her energy began to grow as she tapped into the latent power of her Plant form.
She lunged at Goku, and he responded in kind. Their fists collided in midair and caused a shockwave to ripple across the island.
"Try my tail!" Goku suddenly exclaimed, waving his tail. A whip of energy hit Bulma squarely, crashing her to the ground.
Goku raised his hands and generated a huge ball of crimson energy that slowly began to spin. Then, he threw it at the blue-haired girl. Bulma, who had already stood up, looked up before bursting out laughing.
"Well! What a good attack!" She created a purple energy ribbon in her hands and threw it upwards with a gesture.
Goku's energy sphere collided with Bulma's attack. Instead of exploding, however, the ball was manipulated by the strange shape of the ribbon, and suddenly, the attack turned against its creator. Bulma did not expect this kind of development.
Goku flew to the side, avoiding his energy sphere, which exploded in the sky, illuminating the entire island red. However, because he had looked up at the sky, he inadvertently saw the huge full moon calmly hovering above the scattered clouds.
When Bulma heard a drumming sound coming from Goku's body, she realized that he had seen the moon, thus beginning the process of his transformation.
She flew toward him and slammed his body to the ground, but the transformation had already begun, causing the Saiyan's body to grow enormously. Now, he resembled the Ozaru he had created earlier.
He was Ozaru. The roar he emitted this time was more genuine. His imposing figure left all onlookers, whether in person or otherwise, in awe.
Whis sketched a subtle smile, eager to see how Bulma would fare in a fight against an enemy far stronger than her. Goku's transformation greatly multiplied his power, making him the most powerful entity on Earth that trained humans could sense.
"Goku! Are you there?" Bulma asked, hovering 15 meters above the ground, which was roughly the height of the Saiyan's current form.
A pair of large red eyes watched silently at the girl silently. His huge tail wagged, and he began to thump his chest with his hands. The Ozaru's figure squirmed as he walked toward Bulma with malicious intent.
"Looks like you still haven't fully mastered it," Bulma muttered before rising almost to the height limit allowed in the tournament. She raised her gaze to the sky and located the moon.
After evading an energy cannon launched from the Ozaru's mouth, a purple Fibonacci spiral appeared in Bulma's palm. It generated a huge Ki drill whose rotation caused powerful gusts of wind.
The gigantic energy drill passed through the atmosphere and soon reached the moon upon its launch. It easily traversed the satellite's surface to a depth that Bulma deemed adequate. Then, she made a simple hand gesture.
"Explode!" With her command, the drill exploded with mammoth intensity, quickly fragmenting the moon. However, the energy residue continued to take effect, reducing the pieces to gravel floating in the vast emptiness of space.
However, a certain rabbit and his two companions were still up there, somehow surviving. Her actions quickly affected Goku, though.
He constantly tried to attack Bulma, not the crowd, demonstrating that he had some control in his transformed form, though not enough to think clearly or speak.
Due to the loss of the moon, his transformation began to subside, shrinking his figure to normal size. Bulma shot an energy beam at him, preventing him from showing himself naked to millions of people.
"Thanks for the clothes," Goku said, patting the orange gi Bulma had created for him.
Goku was tired and didn't want to fight anymore, but he didn't want to give up, so he looked at Bulma. Her purple halo gave her a strange presence.
"Do you want to continue?" Bulma asked, sensing the Saiyan's emotions. He nodded and scratched the back of his neck.
"It's the final, isn't it? Sorry, I couldn't put on a better fight, a cool one. That transformation wore me out," Goku complained, feeling that the fight would have been more spectacular if he hadn't turned into Ozaru.
"Goku, no matter if the final fight is cool or not, are you having fun?" asked the blue-haired girl. She landed on the arena floor and looked seriously at the Saiyan.
"Well, I had a lot of fun, not only in this fight but also in the previous ones and watching the others' fights," Goku answered with a sincere smile. Seeing that made Bulma make up her mind.
"I already got what I wanted," Bulma said, pointing to the purple halo above her head. It pulsed with pure energy channeled from deep within her being.
"If you had fun, Goku, then you deserve to win." As she said that, she flew out of the arena. As she hit the ground, there was a sudden silence.
No one expected her to disqualify herself, but Ponto began screaming with excitement. A smile broke out on Muten Roshi's aged face, partially covered by his hat.
"Looks like someone has come to an understanding," the old man muttered, receiving a glare from Whis.
"The girl is very talented. Your apprentice is lucky to have found such a good seedling," Whis praised, already imagining Bulma's prospects, especially because of the color of her ki.
'That purple matches quite well with Destruction's energy. If she continues on this path, will you ever be able to compete against the true gods? I want to see!' thought the angel. He was enjoying his thirteenth instant ramen soup. He had ended up liking them quite a lot and couldn't stop eating them.
"We have a winner! The champion of the 22nd edition of this tournament is Son Goku!" the announcer shouted. With the drop of his voice, fireworks shot into the sky and exploded in beautiful colors.
"Bulma..." Goku approached his older sister and looked at her strangely. Why did she give up? Wouldn't it be better to win?
These and other questions assailed the mind of the young Saiyan. His emotions were quite clear to Bulma's empathic perception. She simply took advantage of her younger brother's proximity to give him a tight hug.
"Unless it's life or death, winning or losing doesn't matter. What matters is learning, pushing your limits, and having fun while fighting. Goku, don't forget that. Fighting shouldn't be the only thing in your life. Have a good time. Get a good rest. Eat properly. Live." As she said those words, Bulma tousled Goku's hair. He had reciprocated her hug.
"You sound like Grandpa Roshi!" Goku said, making Bulma want to pat him on the head. However, she didn't want to ruin the moment, so she simply broke away from him and pointed to Chi-Chi in the distance.
"Go say hi to Chi-Chi and see how she's watching you." Bulma deftly diverted Goku's attention to Chi-Chi. When the Saiyan turned away from her, Bulma let out a sigh of relief.
"I could have won, but what's the point when I've already learned all I could from this tournament?" Bulma muttered, raising her gaze to where the moon should be. She knew that Kami-Sama would rebuild it soon.
"My adventure has barely begun. Leave this moment as a good memory." After saying that, Bulma looked over to where Whis was standing at the commentator's table. Noticing her gaze, he motioned for her to come closer.
"Come slide down rainbows in the sky, let's fly away~" Bulma began to sing and hum a song that only she knew as she approached Whis step by step.
"Cha-la! Head cha-la!" Her head bobbed to a rhythm that, by now, only she could remember. Inspired by the end of the tournament, she simply let herself go.
The halo over her head grew deeper and deeper before fading away. Bulma felt inexplicably lighter; it seemed that the music in her head had made her feel much better.
So, amid the fireworks and the roar of the crowd, with Goku being kissed on the cheek by Chi-Chi and Bulma stopping in front of Whis, the twenty-second edition of this tournament was over.
