Chapter 27 - DW: The Mechanic Chapter 23

When the breach closed completely, the hologram I was using to communicate disappeared. Seeing this, I ended the communication before connecting to the Doctor. To my surprise, it turns out he had an unexpected guest: Donna Noble in her wedding dress. Knowing what was about to take place, I spoke before the doctor could speak," Drop me off in Cardiff before you go on another adventure. I need to sort out the issue with my TARDIS.".

After hearing my words, he nods, knowing that I am relying on him for stable travel. So, without much delay, he sets the destination and off we go. When we rematerialize, the Doctor disengages the shield that was being used as a makeshift tug, before sending a message that he will be off, most probably dealing with the whole Racnoss situation.

Once he has left I start work at latching my TARDIS to the rift as a beacon, once I confirm that everything is ready but not before I do some last-minute calculations to see how long this will take, and I am glad I did it will take approximately a whole month for the whole process to complete.

The worst part is that's not the time I can use for other things I need to constantly engage the dematerialization, while making sure that my TARDIS stays in proximity with the rift, by continually checking that the coordinates stay the same, if not I need to do manual corrections using the rift as a beacon.

I can only sigh at how tedious this was going to be, it would have been better to do what's normally done. When growing a TARDIS faster than usual, you're only supposed to accelerate the growth at certain intervals, but no, I had to rush the whole process.

So I spent an entire month going to different points in time at the same location, although something happened when I went to the point at which the Doctor and Rose fought the ghosts. I felt a time shift. After doing some scans before I left again, I found out I was in some kind of time field, where nothing mattered, like a pocket of time that would not affect events.

This made me realize that without the aid of something like the moment or something just as powerful, meeting myself would be almost impossible, I say impossible because I will eventually be able to make something just as powerful as the moment.

However, this effect, where a time field gets made every time I enter my timeline, may prove difficult at times. Luckily, from what the scans show the field only covers Cardiff, not anywhere else, meaning I can still come back to this date but at some other location.

After making my discovery, I continued on my way, there were no more surprises. I even took the time to think about what I would do next. I knew I needed a companion, especially after how I lost it when I was at Van Statten's facility. It was my best option, I can't risk losing it by the time it comes to return to Gallifrey.

It seemed to work for the Doctor as he did eventually leave behind his anger, after his journeys with Rose, well, that was until Donna was made to forget him, and he went all Timelord victorious. Causing a major change in the timeline of Humanity.

So I need to heal my issues without becoming arrogant, not too difficult, right? I can only laugh at my thoughts. I have to say I have no plans to repeat this whole rift timeline jumping, it's boring as hell, but at least it lets me get my thoughts together.

After finishing the last dematerialization and rematerialization, I set the course back for the time that the Doctor dropped me off. When I finally land, the first thing I do is disconnect the navigation from the rift, meaning the rift will no longer act as a beacon.

Once done I tell Ada I am going to get something to eat, leaving my TADIS I head directly to the nearest restaurant. When I get there I order something large I had spent a month in the control room eating for all the intense and purposes junk food.

Luckily I had the habit of carrying money, unlike a certain Timelord. So getting my food and paying was not an issue, and I have to say if you have nothing but junk food for a long time then get something that is considered proper food, like fish and chips or curry, you will feel like you have not eaten at all.

Speaking of which the moment I am done and head to the Tardis I spend the next 3 hours cleaning the entire control room, whoever thought it was not a good idea to have bins inside the TARDIS control room for the rubbish needed to be shot, they are in almost every room except the control room, its stupid really.

Once that's all cleaned up and disposed of, I move to the navigation time for the test. I decide on visiting Vasta since it's the easiest way, the alternative would be awkward, that being visiting Jackie before I arrived during the Army of Ghosts but as I said that would be awkward since I know her fate is to be tramped in a parallel universe with Rose and knowing Jackie she will pester me about why. Not something I want to deal with, so Vastra is the only option.

After plotting a course and disengaging the handbrake, I set off, and it did not take me long to arrive. After doing checks to make sure I am where I expected to be, I exit the TARDIS, to be greeted by Vastra, Jenny and Strax.

We talk about what happened since I left, which they tell me not much, it's at that moment I remember that if my memory serves me right it's close to the time twelve will land here with a dinosaur, so I give Vastr a heads up that he will show up and that he may be different than she remembers.

After saying that, I make my way back to my TARDIS, knowing that I can at least head where I want, but I think that Ada may take some traits from her mother. Although she can only see what this incarnation will do, she may take me places I least expect.

I just hope I do not run it weeping angels anytime soon, those things are horrible to deal with, although I can confirm that due to my ability, they can't send me back in time, but that does not stop them from snapping my neck.

Oh, right, what about the cracks in time that Eleven and Amy had to deal with? I have not seen any yet, maybe they won't appear till some requirement is met, speaking of which, River, what to do with her and the silence. I know the Doctor has to go to Trenzalore, but something tells me that things have changed, just by my presence.

Well, there's only one way to find out, right? Once in my TARDIS, I head straight to the console before starting the navigation, as I do, I get this strange nagging feeling at the back of my mind, it gives of the feeling I need to be somewhere, but where eludes me.

So to find out I let Ada take the reigns letting her take me where I need to be, I know it may seem a waste now that I could go anywhere but something a the back of my mind says I need to go somewhere but where I do not know, so letting Ada navigate is the best option.

As for why I am letting this feeling guide me, it feels important, like I need to be there, for what reason I am unsure, but I intend to find out what is calling to me, be it an object or a person.

Once everything is set the TARDIS starts to dematerialize from where it was, heading for where Ada intends to take me, my only hope is it, is not something that will cause problems for me in the future.
