Upon hearing Shi Shengyi, the abbot of Doushi Temple, say this, Shen Qiang angrily retorted, "You're lying! Monks are human too, and as humans, they have various desires. Whether they become monks or return to secular life, that's their own problem. What does that have to do with you killing people?"
Shi Shengyi, the abbot of Doushi Temple, responded sternly with gleaming eyes, "Outrageous! My Buddha is compassionate, but still requires disciples to serve. If all the young disciples return to secular life, leaving no incense in the temple, how can we spread the Dharma?"
Shen Qiang frowned, "What does that have to do with you killing people?"
The abbot of Doushi Temple, Shi Shengyi, stared into Shen Qiang's eyes and said in a deep voice, "All living beings, from the moment of birth, have strengths and weaknesses, a hierarchy of status. In a group of lions, there is a king lion, among tigers a king tiger, and among humans, there is an emperor."
