Before he could get any word out, both Avery and Alex entered the room.
" Finally they are here. We can eat now," Stefan exclaimed
Everyone turned to look at him as if he had something going on in his head.
" What? I'm hungry and I know you guys are. After everything that has happened, we need energy to move on." he said clapping his hands together.
They followed him to the dining room. The interior of the room was something one would speak about for days to come. The exterior of the house might look deserted but inside was on another level.
Avery stared at the food which was displayed in front of her with a blank expression. A whole lot had happened today and she didn't know how to cope with the life or days which were yet to come. She was married now to whom? Her boss, scratch that, her ex-boss. The person she ran away from was because of his psycho girlfriend. And now she was tied down to a loveless marriage.
The man sitting beside wasn't himself either. Alex kept thinking about the fuck up plan he had lured Avery into for her to marry her. Threatening her with her mother.
" Well done fucker." he thought to himself.
Now how was he going to make her forgive him and how was he going to explain, because at this moment everything he says now, she wasn't going to believe him.
He was pulled out of his thoughts when Sam cleared his throat. He looked at him with a raised brow.
" Add, food to her plate," Sam muttered.
He placed shrimps on Suzzy's plate, showing Alex how it's done.
Alex nodded and followed his lead. He placed grilled fish on Avery's plate. He knew that was her favourite and he was proud he knew that.
Avery pulled her plate away before Alex could put anything on it.
"I'm allergic to fish" she snapped
Alex paused, and everyone turned their heads towards them. The atmosphere became awkward.
" Sorry, I didn't know." Alex apologize.
Thai infuriated her anger, he wasn't acting like this when he faulted her for signing those damm papers and now he was acting like he was the one offended.
"What happened to your arrogance?" she bellowed.
Alex placed the fish away and wiped his hands. He had nothing to say about her feeling this way. She has every right to lash out at him. As long as she stayed his wife, he would tolerate everything.
Avery stood up from her chair.
"I'm full, I will take my leave."
" You haven't touched your food, Avery." Alex tried to convince her.
" I lost my appetite,"
Everyone's gaze moved to the two people who were quarrelling.
Alex followed her, he didn't know what he was going to say or do, but if she could listen to him, this once then he would be ok.
His pace quickened when he saw Avery walking out of the house. Where was she going? He knew she couldn't go anywhere because her mom was in this house but he couldn't help panic.
"Avery," he called to her.
He held her arm when she was one foot away from the door.
"Don't touch me."
" Please, give me a chance to explain."
He said with a shaken voice.
" Please hear me out. Please." Alex said with his emotions on display.
