In the wooden cabin of Yun Ming and Ya Li on Sea God Island, Jing Shaoyu continued to showcase his growth and gains after advancing to the Soul King rank to Yun Ming, Ya Li, and Na'er.
"The last one is Wood Spirit Summoning," Jing Shaoyu said with an excited expression. "Wood Spirit Summoning has unlocked a new plant-type Soul Beast. Additionally, the cultivation of the plant-type Soul Beasts I summon will now increase from half of the original Soul Ring's age to the full age of the Soul Ring."
"So, does that mean you can now summon two ten-thousand-year Soul Beasts and two fifty-thousand-year Soul Beasts?" Ya Li asked.
"Yes," Jing Shaoyu nodded with a hint of pride.
"What's the new plant-type Soul Beast?" Yun Ming inquired.
"It's called the Seven-Colored Sea God Grass. Teacher, have you heard of this Soul Beast?" Jing Shaoyu asked, looking at Yun Ming and Ya Li.
"Seven-Colored Sea God Grass?" Yun Ming looked puzzled, and Ya Li also fell into deep thought. Clearly, neither of them had heard of this plant-type Soul Beast.
Na'er, who was standing nearby, also looked confused. "Brother, what kind of Soul Beast is that? It sounds really impressive."
"The Seven-Colored Sea God Grass is a marine plant-type Soul Beast that lives in the deep sea. Generally, it's rare for people on land to see them. Only fishermen who live by the sea and often venture into the deep sea might have encountered them," Jing Shaoyu explained.
"So, it's a marine Soul Beast. No wonder we haven't heard of it," Yun Ming said, suddenly understanding.
The Douluo Sea is vast, and human Soul Masters have explored less than five percent of it. Thus, even Yun Ming, who is invincible on land, is largely unfamiliar with the ocean.
The ocean is also the natural domain least affected by the development of soul technology. Compared to the nearly collapsing land, the marine environment remains largely intact. Human influence on the ocean extends only to the distant seas near the continents, with the deep seas beyond rarely touched.
Jing Shaoyu's newly awakened talent as the Monarch of the Sea and his new Wood Spirit are both related to the Douluo Sea. This leads him to believe that the natural will of Douluo is quietly reclaiming its dominion over the ocean, taking advantage of the Sea God's absence from Douluo. This is its only opportunity.
Therefore, it is entirely reasonable that Jing Shaoyu's Origin Elf Soul possesses a trace of oceanic authority.
"Brother, what abilities does the Seven-Colored Sea God Grass have?" Na'er asked with wide eyes, full of curiosity.
"Well," Jing Shaoyu rubbed his chin and thought for a moment, "its abilities are mostly supportive. It can heal, remove debuffs, and purify. You can think of it as the marine plant version of the Emerald Swan."
"I see," Ya Li smiled, "the world is truly filled with so many wondrous species."
"When Shaoyu and Na'er grow up, let's go on a journey to explore the ocean, how about that?" Yun Ming suggested, holding Ya Li's hand.
"That sounds wonderful," Ya Li replied with a happy and content expression.
Jing Shaoyu and Na'er exchanged glances, both seeing the helplessness in each other's eyes.
"By the way, Shaoyu," Yun Ming suddenly remembered something, "now that you've broken through to the Soul King rank, when do you plan to use the Ice Dragon Tendon to awaken your orange Soul Spirit?"
"Well," Jing Shaoyu pondered, his consciousness sinking into his spiritual sea to look at the egg floating there. He then returned to reality and answered, "I plan to stabilize my cultivation first. Once it's steady, I'll awaken Poya immediately."
"That's a prudent decision," Yun Ming nodded in approval.
"It's getting late, Shaoyu. Rest for a bit, and then go to the Outer Academy with Na'er for class," Ya Li said.
"Alright," Jing Shaoyu agreed and then left Yun Ming and Ya Li's cabin, heading to his own nearby wooden hut.
He lay down on the wooden bed, closing his eyes as if to sleep, but in reality, he was examining a gain he hadn't disclosed to Yun Ming and Ya Li.
The Heart of Eternity.
After reaching the Soul King rank, Jing Shaoyu found that the Heart of Eternity had changed.
He could now control it!
Jing Shaoyu opened his eyes, sat up, and looked down at his chest. As he focused, a faint green glow flickered at his heart, and then a jade-like green heart slowly emerged from his chest, fully appearing before his eyes.
Looking at the vividly beating heart, Jing Shaoyu was momentarily dazed. He instinctively raised his hands and caught the green heart. He knew this was the Heart of Eternity!
The appearance of the Heart of Eternity filled the room with a rich life force, but none of it leaked out, as if an invisible hand tightly controlled the life energy, preventing it from dissipating.
A smile appeared on Jing Shaoyu's face as a string of information surfaced in his mind. Following this information, he slowly closed his hands. As he did, the Heart of Eternity began to shrink at a speed barely perceptible to the naked eye.
When his hands were completely closed, a cyan light enveloped them. His expression became solemn, and he remained motionless.
After a moment, all the phenomena dissipated. Jing Shaoyu opened his hands, and the Heart of Eternity was gone, replaced by a jade-like seed the size of a date pit. The seed was crystal clear and exquisitely crafted.
"The Seed of Eternity!" Jing Shaoyu murmured, his eyes flashing with brilliance as he looked at the seed in his palm.
After transforming into the Seed of Eternity, it could now be separated from Jing Shaoyu's body. If he wished, he could entrust it to anyone. It would increase the bearer's cultivation speed and Soul Power recovery rate, making it an excellent cultivation aid. If Jing Shaoyu died, it would become the key to his resurrection.
Of course, Jing Shaoyu could also plant it like an ordinary seed. It would sprout and grow into a normal tree. Only when Jing Shaoyu died would it reveal its miraculous nature, withering itself to resurrect him.
After playing with the Seed of Eternity for a while, Jing Shaoyu raised it to his forehead. In the next moment, his Dao Eye opened, and the Seed of Eternity sank into the vertical eye, appearing in his spiritual sea.
He hadn't yet decided how to handle the Seed of Eternity, so he temporarily stored it in his spiritual sea. Now, it truly felt like his heart was in his brain.
Soon after, Jing Shaoyu and Na'er took a boat back to the Outer Academy for class.
No one else knew about Jing Shaoyu's advancement to the Soul King rank, and he didn't plan to make it public. Apart from Gu Yue, Xu Xiaoyan, Wu Siduo, Ye Xinglan, and Mo Hentian, no one else in the class knew, including Wu Zhangkong and Shen Yi.
So, when Wu Zhangkong called Jing Shaoyu to his office after class, his first reaction was shock.
"You broke through?!" Wu Zhangkong exclaimed in astonishment.
"What? What breakthrough?" Shen Yi, who was nearby, also came over, equally shocked.
"Jing Shaoyu has advanced to the Soul King rank," Wu Zhangkong said, calming down.
"Really?" Shen Yi's shock mirrored Wu Zhangkong's. "A fourteen-year-old Soul King! My goodness, this first-year class is really taking off!"
"Teacher Wu, did you call me here just for this?" Jing Shaoyu asked, looking at the excited Shen Yi.
"Of course not," Wu Zhangkong immediately waved his hand. "I called you here for a serious matter. It's just that your breakthrough came at such a coincidental time that we were caught off guard."
"I see," Jing Shaoyu nodded thoughtfully. "So, what's the matter?"
"Do you remember what I told you at the beginning of the semester? About the grade exchange activity with the third-year students," Wu Zhangkong said seriously. "Now, I can tell you that the time has been set. It will be in two months, during the mid-term of this semester."
"So, it's about that!" Jing Shaoyu smiled.
"You can start preparing now," Wu Zhangkong said. "Although you're already a Soul King, your opponents are third-year students. Don't take them lightly. The competition format for this grade exchange activity is pure combat: three one-on-one matches, one two-on-two match, and one seven-on-seven match."
"Understood," Jing Shaoyu nodded.
"Also, this challenge is a joint effort between the first and second years against the third year. So, when you have time, go discuss with the second-year class monitor about the arrangement and selection of participants," Wu Zhangkong added. "
Everything will be based on strength."
"Working with the second year, I see," Jing Shaoyu said thoughtfully
