Michael felt himself stir, with his consciousness slowly awakening.
"What? What happened?" he asked out loud.
His voice echoed through an endless black space. It didn't even sound like it came out of his mouth. It sounded like it came from his very surroundings itself.
He felt awake, but he knew that this wasn't the 'awake' that he was used to. It felt like he was still in the middle of dreaming, only experiencing a momentary lucidness.
He 'looked' down and saw nobody he inhabited. He was just a disembodied idea or consciousness that floated in the eternal endless black space that surrounded him.
This reminded him of when he first died and experienced reincarnation. Except this time, he felt like he was simply in the middle of a dream.
