Armaros looked at the man who was wearing a cloak as he felt like the man was familiar to him, not in the sense that he had seen the man before, but it was a feeling similar to when he had sensed the demons.
"You're a hero descendant." Armaros said as he managed to recognise the feeling.
"About time you recognised it. I would've been disappointed if you were not even able to recognise one of the hero descendants." The cloaked man said with amusement in his voice.
"What is the meaning of this? The houses of the heroes are not supposed to oppose each other." Armaros said as he looked at the man like he was mad.
The bloodline of the hero descendants are valuable and none of the other hero clans would try to oppose and destroy another one, as they are essential for the human empire as deterrents against other races and also effective warriors against demons.
While disagreements would happen from time to time between the clans, they would never do anything that might cause damage to each other. Perhaps some bouts or combat to determine which side is right or something, or at least that was what he knew about it.
In any case, he knew that doing something of this manner is not something that any hero clan would even think about doing.
"That may be true. But you are an exile of the Dawnbringer Clan, the weakest of your bloodline in its history, and as such you do not have the necessary power to be one of them." The man said with a tone of glee which caused Armaros to narrow his eyes.
"Where are you going with this?" Armaros asked as he looked at the man as he tried to move his body in vain.
"I'm saying that as a disappointment to the Dawnbringer Clan, they won't care much about what happens to you would they, the most they would care about is whether you are alive or not, as you would still be of use as a political figure for the clan." The man said with a smile on his face.
Armaros growled at the words of the man as he wasn't giving him any straight answers and just saying things to him that he doesn't care much about. But he also understood another thing as he craned his neck to look at Shia who is standing meekly in place.
"You are the one who had the guild make her my junior." Armaros said with a growl as he glared at the girl.
"That's right. She is my servant, and I had to make sure that she wouldn't draw any suspicion from you so I had to make sure that she was trained correctly so that you won't have any doubts about legitimacy." The man said to him as he grinned.
"That still doesn't explain what you want by doing this. You certainly don't think that you can just do whatever you want to me without repercussions. I am still a member of the Dawnbringers and even they will not forgive such a sleight to their pride." Armaros said to the man.
"Oh I know that. But there is only one thing I want from you, one simple thing and then I will be on my way." The man said to him with a smile.
"If you are thinking about getting my clan medallion, then I will have to disappoint you as I do not have it." Armaros said to the man with a grin.
But contrary to what he thought the man just laughed at his words as he felt confused as to what his goal is. He tried to call on his mana but was still having difficulties with it as he grit his teeth, but then he felt another magic circle placed on him as he felt his body being pushed on the ground and his magic being restricted even more.
"A medallion of the Dawnbringer would be a worthy trinket, but it would only give me more trouble. However, what I want from you, is something even more precious." The man said with a smirk.
"What could be more precious than a medallion? Me?" Armaros scoffed even as he felt that he isn't able to move his body freely.
"Not you. But your ability to use Holy Light." The man said as the boys eyes widened.
"You... what are you talking about?" Armaros asked as he felt some dread in his heart.
"I had made her become your party member so that I can take away your ability to use the Holy Light of your family. That ability, that blessing is something that is far more precious than some medallion or a human." The man said with an tone of enjoyment.
"It's not possible to take my ability to use Holy Light. It's an ability that I have due to being descended of Lucius and have his blood, not to mention it's a blessing of a God." Armaros said in shock at the audacious words of the man in front of him.
He tried to free himself as he desperately called upon whatever strength he had, whether physical or magical to free himself from this shackles, but unfortunately for him he isn't able to do so as the man just laughed.
Shia who was watching it all stood there nervously as she fidgeted in place as she watched it all happen. The man noticed her fidgeting as he turned to look at her.
"Is there something wrong?" The man asked her as she flinched at his words.
"N-No my lord." Shia said as she bowed to him.
"Good. Now then, as for your question. While it is not normally possible to do so, I have found a way to do so. With this spell, I will strip you of your ability to use Holy Light, of course, that would also mean removing your ties to the Dawnbringers." The man said to him which further shocked Armaros.
"What do you mean by that? What kind of spell even is that?!" Armaros said in fear at the words of the madman in front of him.
"Your ability to use Holy Light came from your bloodline and your connection to Lucius through it. To completely take your ability to create Holy Light, I will remove that connection. You will still have the blood of your parents, but none of the divinity and blessings that you currently have. I will strip away the divinity from your very soul and use it for myself." The man said with glee and desire in his tone.
Armaros's eyes widened in shock as his mouth went dry at the words said by the man. To do something like that to one of the members of the hero clans is sacrilege of the highest order, because they are directly interfering with the blessings of the divine
All the hero descendants revere the Gods and none of them, even the arrogant elders would dare consider doing something like this. And if any of them ever learned that one of their own had done something like that, they would sooner kill them as it would be a stain on their clans reputation and legacy.
"To do something like that. Only a forbidden spell would have the ability to do something of that magnitude. What clan do you belong to and why do you want to do something sacrilegeous to the hero clans?" Armaros asked as he decided to stop trying to escape as he realised that he was fully trapped.
"As if I will reveal the clan I hail from to you. But I will tell you why I am doing this, it's because your ability to use Holy Light is something that is very precious to our race, and now that the demons have begun advancing again, having your ability to create Holy Light will be instrumental in the coming battles. Your clan doesn't care much about you anyways and you are the weakest of them all, so they don't care about you too much, and that means I can do what I want without any problems." The man said to him as Armaros glared at him.
"But this is an act that none of the clans will approve of." Armaros said as he glared at the man.
"Perhaps, but I believe that they won't care much. After all, the very clan that you belong to had exiled you because of how incompetent and weak you are. Your only worth is the blood that is flowing through your veins and your power to create and use Holy Light, but without that blessing from the heavens? You're just a worthless human. They won't even care about you, and if I have to guess, would be elated to know that you don't have the power, because they will be able to claim that you aren't of their own, and therefore, they won't have to accept the fact that someone like you were born into their clan." The man said with great glee in his voice as Armaros froze in place.
A part of Armaros wanted to refute the words of the cloaked man in front of him, but he also knew that there was truth in them as well. His clan had treated him as a stain and embarrassment to the legacy of their great clan due to his weakness, and if the elders learned about it, they would be able to claim that he wasn't one of them, and he, without his ability to utilise Holy Light, would not be able to refute their claim.
They had already exiled him and also told make him know about their distaste with his presence and his weakness, and how they didn't like the fact that a child like him had been born to their clan, for her heard it from the elders, heard some of the servants, his own sisters and mother as well.
Even at the village, his mother had told him that the only reason she had decided to come to help him was because of his bloodline, because he was of their blood and their ability to use . But if he loses the ability that is the defining characteristic of their clan? Then he will be nothing more than a normal human, without any of their precious ability.
And he had also removed himself from the clan as well, though he had a feeling that his clan won't just let him go since he still has their blood and power, with the loss of his power of Holy Light, he won't be of interest to the clan, much less his mother and family, they would probably be glad that they won't have to claim as failure of their family as one born of their blood when he has no way of showing that he belongs to the clan.
'I had removed myself from the clan, and now I will also have my spiritual connection with my ancestor ripped from me.' Armaros thought to himself as he thought about how unlucky he had to be to experience this right after the village.
And he doesn't know what clan the man belongs to, so he can't even accuse any of them, and considering their status and his own, he is sure that none would take him seriously, and the other Clans would just be angry at his accusations so he can't do that as well, since it would be a matter of their honour and he knew they might kill him for such accusations
'I let my guard down, I thought this would be like every other quest and got trapped. Even the clans won't be of help.' Armaros thought to himself as he growled in place.
He had made the mistake of becoming complacent and had also slightly eased himself around Shia and now he fell right into the trap of this cloaked man. But he also needed to learn more from the man after what he learned about what he plans to do.
"And what will happen to me?" Armaros asked as he understood that the man had no qualms with revealing information to him.
"Since this is a spell that tampers with the divinity in your body and soul, there is a chance that you might die, though I do not think you will die. Most likely, it will leave you very weakened than you already are. But I'm certain that you will survive." The man said to him with a smile on his face.
"This is forbidden." Armaros said as he looked at the man in shock at how he is acting.
"Perhaps, but this will be my victory." The man said with a smile on his face as he raised his hand as Armaros looked at him in fear at his hand.
