Enzo's POV
I had gone back to the clinic to see her but instead, I saw him pick her up—bridal style. His arms slid beneath Zendaya, lifting her effortlessly like she was meant to be there. She didn't flinch. Didn't resist. Her body curled into him naturally, as if she belonged there. I could see the bond forming. I could feel and I hated it. I couldn't let this happen.
The longer she stayed around him, the clearer it became. The way her eyes flicked toward him like he was everything to her. This morning, I was at the table during breakfast hoping to see her and talk to her.
But when she walked in, not once did her eyes meet mine. The way she leaned toward Angel, who accompanied her, smilling, and laughing at her jokes, making small talk.
