Third-person POV
Astraea couldn't believe she had agreed to something so human and so utterly ridiculous. Sitting in the backseat of a car, bumping along cracked roads in a part of the city that smelled like sweat and rust, she glanced over at Zephyra, who was fidgeting with the sleeves of her hoodie like her life depended on it.
This was the last thing Astraea should be doing. She was supposed to be figuring out how to deal with the grey-eyed demon, not tagging along with a half-sick human girl to some shady gym to settle a mysterious debt.
According to Zephyra, the man she owed, a guy named Marlo, refused to say how much she owed him over the phone. Instead, he demanded she come in person if she wanted a total figure.
