A careful paint stroke was placed on the canvas, Darius stood back to look at the painting. He was nearly done with the piece. The man picked at the paint splotches that had dripped on his face. A slow smile spread across his features as he took in his work.
He exhaled softly, it deserved to be displayed along with the relics in the Grand Hall. It just needed some more time given to it for touch-ups. His fingers brushed against his stubble and he huffed. It was the piece he began the day he let himself be convinced by Serena to pick up his craft again.
There on the canvas laid Serena on the window seat, Darius had put her in a casual pose. Her hair fell softly across her face and passed her shoulders, nearly touching the floor. It was his artistic exaggeration and he was proud of it. The book she held seemed to emit a soft glow.
