Chapter 639 - Chapter 891 - Improvement of Talent

This was the first time Aoki had obtained the desired result directly when testing a Mega Stone on a Pokémon capable of Mega Evolution.

He had acquired the Mega Stone he wanted most.

Though it was unfortunate that the Combusken could not utilize it, Aoki knew the general location of the Blazikenite.

He would need to travel to the Kalos region to find it.

Since the artificial space had been created, there was no reason to leave it empty—Aoki released all his Pokémon inside for training.

There was one more thing worth noting.

While obtaining the method for crafting talent-enhancing potions from Matsuda, Aoki had also learned techniques for gradually improving a Pokémon's potential through regulated Pokeblock consumption and dietary adjustments.

Among all of Aoki's battle-ready Pokémon, only Honchkrow's aptitude remained at the cyan level.

However, after an extended period of carefully tailored Pokeblock distribution, Honchkrow's potential had finally peaked within the artificial space, breaking through the cyan barrier and reaching dark cyan.

Though this dark cyan aptitude was the faintest among all his dark cyan-rated Pokémon, it was still a crucial breakthrough.

Every improvement in aptitude represented a qualitative leap for a Pokémon.

If Honchkrow could slowly enhance its potential, then even Pokémon that had already evolved and stabilized their aptitudes could also improve—though the process would be slower and more tedious.

Still, the possibility existed.

In truth, it wasn't just Honchkrow. Pokémon like Pupitar, Drapion, and Gengar had also seen their aptitude colors darken slightly since evolution, though the changes were gradual and not immediately noticeable.

After Honchkrow's breakthrough, Aoki took the opportunity to re-examine his other Pokémon and confirmed that their aptitudes had indeed improved.

However, they were still some distance away from a qualitative change.

The formulas for gradual aptitude improvement were clearly not efficient enough.

At this rate, it might take over a year for a dark green aptitude to reach light blue.

Aoki didn't have that kind of time to waste.

He instructed the system to analyze the data and simulate possible refinements to the formula.

If they could obtain Team Rocket's research on the Mew gene, the system might be able to devise a far more potent formula.

Unfortunately, Team Rocket kept that data heavily guarded—even Porygon2 couldn't infiltrate their networks to retrieve it.

It was impossible to access.

Considering Porygon2 itself was originally developed by Team Rocket, their security measures against it were naturally stringent.

For now, the system would have to optimize the existing formula through analysis.

Aoki sat on the ground, observing his Pokémon as they trained.

Honchkrow's aptitude reaching dark blue had given him a valuable insight—Pokémon potential could not regress.

Even if they didn't experience a dramatic leap like during evolution, the rate of improvement shouldn't be this sluggish.

Previously, due to limited resources, Aoki had relied on cost-effective materials.

Now that he had more funds, he could afford higher-quality ingredients.

Only by improving his Pokémon's potential would they have a chance to reach greater heights in the future.

While the system continued its analysis, Aoki shifted his focus to Porygon2 through the neural link.

Via the system, Aoki now perceived the world from Porygon2's perspective.

The lack of physical limbs was disorienting, but movement and actions could still be executed through mental commands relayed by the system.

At this range, the delay was minimal—only a second or two of lag.

Earlier, when Pupitar and the others had been teleported to the island, all the Pokémon acquired from the trade fair had also been deposited there.

Most required no supervision; once placed on the island, they instinctively contributed to the ecosystem.

Their presence accelerated plant growth, enriching the island's forests and enhancing their vitality.

Aoki's primary reason for controlling Porygon2 was to check on the Bulbasaur and Chikorita he had acquired.

These were two of the Royal Starter Pokémon, just like the Quilava already on the island.

Aoki intended to breed them—whether for personal use or future sale, they were valuable assets.

He had arranged them in close proximity and ensured they received regular meals.

There were three Bulbasaur—one male and two females—and four Chikorita—one male and three females.

Aoki hoped the males would prove especially robust.

He made sure to supplement their diets with nutrients to bolster their physical condition.

Their aptitudes were decent, ranging from light green to dark green. After a few generations of selective breeding, they might produce offspring with light cyan potential.

That would be considered excellent.

In the future, if Aoki encountered other royal starter Pokémon, he would prioritize acquiring them.

As long as he could establish stable populations, breeding high-quality Pokémon would become much easier.

If someone were to stumble upon his island now, they'd hit the jackpot.

Aoki had invested far too many resources into it.

Fortunately, Pokémon like Altaria stood guard, making it impossible for intruders to steal anything.

If a powerful Trainer did breach the island, Porygon2 could teleport the Pokémon to safety before any harm was done.

And since the island was hidden, ordinary people would never find it.

By the time Aoki finished organizing the Pokémon, night had fallen.

Exhausted from the day's work, he collapsed into bed and slept deeply.

The next morning, he returned to the black market.

Overnight, the system had formulated a new, more effective aptitude-boosting recipe.

When incorporated into Pokeblocks, it would accelerate a Pokémon's potential growth.

The required materials were expensive, but not unaffordable.

In addition, Aoki sought rare berry trees and medicinal plants to cultivate on the island.

Thanks to the energy-infused water, vegetation grew faster and bore more nutritious fruit.

With the help of the Grass-type Pokémon Aoki had purchased, the island's flora would thrive even more.

In time, the island could become a treasure trove of rare berries and herbs, supplying Aoki with all the materials he needed.

The only disappointment was that Aoki hadn't encountered any Fire-type or Water-type starter Pokémon during his market visit.

He wasn't sure if he'd find any in the coming days.

Beyond the starters, other rare Pokémon capable of forming breeding groups would also be valuable acquisitions.
