"Grand Priest, you're not joking, are you?"
Whis looked at the Grand Priest nervously.
Temple Enforcer!
Although this position had been vacant for a long time, Whis was very familiar with it, because it held great significance.
The role of a Temple Law Enforcement Officer was to oversee the gods, including supervising the work of the Gods of Destruction and the Angels of the various universes.
And this position was nearly on par with that of the Grand Priest himself!

He didn't believe that Katakana's current strength was sufficient to directly become a Temple Law Enforcement Officer.
But if Katakana was willing to follow him and train for a while, becoming a trainee law enforcement officer wasn't out of the question!

Hearing this, Whis let out a long sigh of relief.
If a temple law enforcer really appeared out of nowhere, life could become quite difficult for Whis.
After all, the job of the temple law enforcer was to oversee their work.
That would mean Katakana could catch him slacking off.
"Uh... Whis, Mr. Grand Priest..."
"What exactly is this law enforcement officer role? What does it do?"
Katakana, who had been watching the change in Whis's expression, finally spoke up, puzzled.
Because there was no such role as "temple law enforcement officer" in the original stories, Katakana had never heard of it before.
But from Whis's reaction, it was clear that this was no ordinary position.
At the very least, it was certainly above both Angels and Gods of Destruction in rank.

"It seems Whis never mentioned this to Mr. Katakana. In that case, allow me to explain."
The Grand Priest lightly coughed into his hand, then smiled and said:
"The Temple Law Enforcement Officer, as the name implies, enforces the laws of the temple. You could also call them Lord Zeno's enforcers."
"Their role is to help Lord Zeno uphold order across the twelve universes, overseeing the Gods of Destruction, the Supreme Kais, and even the Angels."
"If a god is found to be slacking or violating the rules, the enforcer has the authority to warn or punish them. And if the offense is serious, they even have the right to execute them."
The Grand Priest's explanation was clear and simple.
Katakana understood right away.
In short: a Temple Law Enforcement Officer monitors the gods of all twelve universes. If someone neglects their duties or causes a major incident, the enforcer can eliminate them.
This authority was personally granted by Lord Zeno.
The position seemed incredibly free, and powerful. He'd even be able to punish lazy Gods of Destruction!
"Hiss... Grand Priest, there's no need to emphasize the word 'Angel' like that!"
Whis said with a bitter expression.
Lord Beerus, the God of Destruction in his universe, loved to sleep, so Whis's job was quite easy.
All he had to do was wake Beerus occasionally to destroy a few planets. The rest of the time, Whis could eat, drink, and relax as he pleased.
But if there was a Temple Law Enforcement Officer watching over them? That would be a very different story.
Even Angels like Whis would be under supervision.
If he got caught slacking, he could be punished too.
"Hoho!"
"There's no need to worry, Whis. Although Mr. Katakana has great potential, becoming a real Temple Law Enforcement Officer won't be easy!"
"With Mr. Katakana's current strength, even becoming a trainee law enforcement officer would be difficult.."
The Grand Priest shook his head.
After all, if you didn't even have the power to punish Gods of Destruction or Angels, where would your authority as a law enforcer come from?
To supervise the gods of the twelve universes, overwhelming strength was an absolute necessity.
"Exactly. While Mr. Katakana has great potential, his current strength isn't enough to take on that role."
Whis relaxed visibly.
At least until Katakana was strong enough to take the job, Whis didn't need to worry about being monitored.
"Well, I've explained the duties of the law enforcement officer. Mr. Katakana, are you interested in this position?"
The Grand Priest turned back to Katakana and asked.
But the question was more of a formality,the Grand Priest already had plans.
Because even across all twelve universes, it would be hard to find another talent like Katakana.
And why else had he arranged for Whis and the other Angels to observe him so closely?
Now that such a rare opportunity had come, the Grand Priest wouldn't let it slip away.
"Mr. Grand Priest, since the job of the law enforcement officer is to supervise the gods of the twelve universes, of course I'm interested!"
"It's just a pity... as you and Whis said, my current strength really is too weak."
"I can't even beat Whis yet, how could I supervise the Gods of Destruction and Angels of twelve universes?"
Katakana let out a sigh and admitted with some embarrassment.
He could tell that the Grand Priest wanted him in that position.
Although he didn't fully understand why, if the Grand Priest wanted it to happen, he would surely create an opportunity for Katakana to grow stronger.
And right now, what Katakana wanted more than anything was power.
Only with enough strength could he control his fate.
