Just as Adrian and Grace were preparing to leave, Harriet, the housekeeper, suddenly stepped forward. Her expression was calm but firm as she cleared her throat.
"Mrs. Grace, before you go... I wanted to let you know that I'm resigning."
Silence fell over the room.
Mr. Williams raised an eyebrow. "Resigning? Why so suddenly, Harriet? You've been with this household for years."
Harriet glanced at Grace before bowing slightly. "I've fulfilled my duty."
Adrian's brows furrowed in confusion. "What duty?"
Harriet turned to him, but it was Grace who answered.
"She was working for me," Grace admitted, her voice calm yet firm.
Everyone, including Adrian, stared at her in disbelief.
"What?" Adrian asked, his eyes widening.
Harriet nodded. "Mrs. Grace has been the one ensuring that Margaret and Benson were watched. I was following her instructions all along."
Mr. Williams looked between Grace and Harriet, his expression unreadable. "Are you telling me that you were the one keeping tabs on Margaret and Benson?"
Grace met his gaze without hesitation. "Yes. The moment I realized how dangerous they were, I knew Adrian would never be at peace if they weren't exposed. So I took matters into my own hands."
Adrian ran a hand through his hair, still processing the revelation. "You... you planned all of this?"
Grace nodded. "I knew you were strong, Adrian. But I also knew they would do anything to bring you down. So I made sure we had the upper hand."
Harriet sighed. "I did what I had to do, but now that the truth is out, my job here is done. I wish you all the best, Mr. Williams, Mr. Adrian, Mrs. Grace."
Before anyone could say another word, Harriet turned and left, leaving behind a stunned silence.
Adrian turned to Grace, his lips curling into a small, almost amused smile. "You really are full of surprises, aren't you?"
Grace smiled back. "I had to protect what's mine."
Mr. Williams chuckled, shaking his head. "Looks like my son married a brilliant woman. I like her even more now."
Adrian reached for Grace's hand, squeezing it gently. He had never felt more certain—he had married the right woman.
Just as Adrian and Grace were about to leave, Mr. Williams raised a hand, stopping them.
"You're not going anywhere tonight." His voice was firm, leaving no room for argument.
Adrian frowned. "Father, it's late, and we—"
"Exactly," Mr. Williams cut him off. "It's late, and after everything that has happened, you both need rest. Besides, I have a few things to discuss with Grace."
Grace tilted her head in curiosity. "With me?"
Mr. Williams smiled warmly. "Yes, my dear. You did more than any of us to save this company and expose those snakes. And as someone who values loyalty, I believe it's only fair that I reward you."
Adrian's frown deepened. "Reward?"
Mr. Williams leaned back in his chair, his gaze steady on Grace. "I want to offer you a share of my company, Grace. You've proven that you're not just my son's wife—you're an asset to this family."
Grace's eyes widened in shock. "Mr. Williams, I—"
"Please, call me Father." His tone was gentle. "After everything you've done, you deserve this."
Grace turned to Adrian, searching his face for any objections, but he simply smirked. "You deserve it, love."
Before she could protest further, Mr. Williams clapped his hands. "Now, that's settled. The guest rooms are full tonight, so I had the maids prepare one of the family rooms for you both."
Adrian narrowed his eyes. "You locked us in one room, didn't you?"
Mr. Williams smirked. "Of course. You're husband and wife. What's the problem?"
Grace blushed while Adrian sighed, rubbing his temple. "Father, really?"
"Really," Mr. Williams said with a chuckle. "Now go, and don't argue with me. We'll have breakfast together in the morning."
The couple exchanged glances before reluctantly heading upstairs. The moment they stepped into the room and heard the door lock behind them, Grace turned to Adrian, her lips twitching.
"Your father is quite the strategist, isn't he?"
Adrian chuckled. "You have no idea."
As he pulled her closer, both of them finally allowed themselves to relax for the first time in months. It seemed that their battles were finally over—or so they thought.
Adrian knew that Margret would not give up so easily. Though she and Benson had been exposed, he was certain she had planted moles within his father's company to continue her schemes from the shadows. If he wanted to take full control, he needed to flush them out—quickly and efficiently.
That night, while Grace rested, Adrian sat by the window, deep in thought. He pulled out his phone and called his most trusted assistant. "I need you to investigate all employees who were promoted or hired in the past year, especially those in finance, legal, and security."
"Understood, sir. I'll get on it immediately."
The next morning, Adrian met with his father in the office.
"We have spies in the company," Adrian informed him.
Mr. Williams sighed, rubbing his temple. "I suspected as much. Margret always had her ways of influencing people."
"I've already put some plans in motion," Adrian reassured him. "I'll set up a few traps and catch them red-handed."
Adrian orchestrated a series of carefully planned traps.
Fake Financial Report: He had his finance team draft a falsified financial report with an error that could only be spotted by someone leaking internal data. If the moles reported it outside the company, he'd know who they were.
Confidential Meeting: Adrian arranged a fake high-profile merger meeting, inviting only a select group of executives. Hidden cameras were set up to see who would pass the information to an outsider.
Baiting the Enemy: He made it seem as though he was personally overseeing the company's new security plans, then intentionally let information 'leak' about a supposed weakness in their cyber systems. If the moles attempted to exploit it, the IT team would track them.
For three days, Adrian remained patient. He barely slept, monitoring reports and tracking movement within the company. It wasn't long before the first betrayal surfaced.
A report containing the falsified financial details was leaked to a rival company. The IT team traced it back to a senior accountant—one of Margret's long-time loyalists.
Then, security footage confirmed that two executives who attended the fake merger meeting made calls to an unknown number minutes after leaving the conference room.
And finally, the cyber team caught an unauthorized attempt to access the company's security system.
Adrian smirked. "Got you."
Now, it was time to deal with them—swiftly and mercilessly.
