The smooth progress of her plans had added a noticeable spring to Orli Waters' steps lately. A smile often graced her lips, and her mind was brimming with creative ideas—even her thoughts on potions had taken a fresh turn.
One day, as Professor Severus Snape was brewing the Wolfsbane Potion, Orli suddenly recalled the pained expression Lupin had made when drinking it previously. Observing the potion ingredients Snape had prepared, she couldn't help but think that whatever came out of those cauldrons must taste absolutely dreadful.
## Orli: "Professor, while Wolfsbane Potion can't include any sweeteners, what do you think about adding some powdered guaiacum and oak fruit syrup? This potion tastes awful. Adding two neutral herbs that don't affect its efficacy might improve its flavor."
Orli tentatively suggested.
# Snape: "I don't believe this potion requires any unnecessary embellishments."
Snape replied coldly.
# Snape: "If there are improvements to be made, they should focus on its efficacy, not its taste."
## Orli: "Improving its efficacy?"
Orli's interest was immediately piqued.
## Orli: "Are you saying you have ideas for enhancing this potion?"
Snape shot her a glance. He hadn't intended to share his still-developing thoughts but found himself speaking anyway:
# Snape: "Did you memorize all the notes you sent me during Christmas? Wolfsbane Potion is relatively new, with limited analytical references, but we can still analyze its materials for inspiration. Currently, while the potion allows werewolves to retain their human form and sanity, they remain weak and unable to move."
## Orli: "Only by enabling them to move freely during the full moon can werewolves truly integrate into human society!"
Orli exclaimed excitedly.
## Orli: "If that could happen, Professor Lupin wouldn't have to live in poverty anymore. He could live and work like a normal person!"
She eagerly leaned over the cauldron, staring intently at the bubbling potion while mentally recalling all her handwritten notes. She quickly added:
## Orli: "Do you think drying sorrel roots after cutting them might allow werewolves to maintain their mobility during the full moon? Currently, fresh sorrel juice is used, which helps reduce their agitation but severely weakens their physical condition... Why don't we give it a try?"
Snape watched her with a cold expression and said:
# Snape: "Not interested. Whether werewolves can live like normal people has nothing to do with me."
Orli snapped out of her earlier excitement and stole a glance at Snape's expression. He didn't look pleased—she had unknowingly annoyed him again.
## Orli: "Professor? Um... I want to improve the Wolfsbane Potion not for Professor Lupin, but mainly to create a more perfect potion..."
Orli said hesitantly.
# Snape: "Is that so?"
Snape countered.
# Snape: "In that case, let's start with your earlier suggestion."
He reached for a jar of powdered guaiacum and poured it into the cauldron, followed by a bottle of oak fruit syrup. The previously stable potion turned into an unsightly brownish-yellow liquid, bubbling continuously and emitting wisps of strange smells.
# Snape: "It's just about time for Lupin to take his potion today. You can deliver this 'innovative' batch yourself."
Snape separated a small portion of the potion, poured it into a goblet, and handed it to Orli with a mocking smile:
# Snape: "Don't forget to tell your dear Professor Lupin that this 'delicious flavor' was specially concocted by you."
