Chapter 115 - I, Kiana, Am Not Useless!

It had been 2 weeks since the young Wulfin had disappeared.

At first they panicked, knowing that a young lass like her could not survive that long all alone without being attacked by the wild beasts and monsters roaming the prairie.

Initially panicking, they slowly let go once they remembered that she seemed to have been surviving alone for several days before being caught by them.

Now a they can do is hope and pray that she remains safe and sound...

Swoosh! Thump...

"Alright, that's the last of the luggages. So, when will you guys go to Folicia?"

Rubbing his hands together, Simon dusted himself off as he finished packing the last of the cargo. Getting up from the floor, he headed back to their temporary home, where Lewis was calibrating the final touches on the Energy Reflector. "Yeah, they're nearly done. Just a couple more whacks and they'd be good to go..." Wiping the sweat off his forehead, Lewis lowered the spanner from his hand as he gazed upon his first mystical creation.

Item: Energy Reflectors

Tier: 2

Grade: Excellent

Description: An artifact that should not exist in this age. Its main function is to trap any and all Electromagnetic waves that may escape from the usage of machines.

Remark: Brother, how on Earth did you get something from [REDACTED]!

Seeing the Status screen once more, Lewis's confusion grew more and more...

"Hey Lewis, is it finally done?" Duncan called from the side, impatient at the news of the Reflectors being completed, but not in function. "You do know that we're supposed to travel to Folicia, but it's been delayed because of a certain someone!"

Waving dismissively, Lewis retorted, "Yes, yes, yes. Don't catch your pants on fire, Mr Know-It-All. As I've said before, it needed a final check before it started, otherwise we'd be having mushroom clouds for days here. Why else do you think I've been delaying the start-up of this dang thing!?"

Duncan huffed with impatience, but could do nothing, for he knew that Lewis was right.

Twiddling with his goggles once more, his thoughts turned back to the missing Wulfin girl. Kiana, where on Earadun are you...

Shaking his head, he turned back towards Celine. "Hey Ce, how are the replies to our posts? Anyone worth hiring?"

With frazzled hair, Celine came from the house, disoriented. "Sorry, was busy all night reading through basic vectors (damn it, how many factors do we need to consider when moving from A to B!?). However, regarding the notice, I had interviewed and inspected several people who applied for the position of Spirit Summoner, but only a few passed. Those who did had weak skills, and one even broke the Union Oath. Last time I saw her, she was being cooked alive by an Ifrit. She screamed like a pig, but it did make for some good show..."

Goblina slowly inched back from the door as Celine cackled near the end. I just came to get some fresh air! C'mon man...

Duncan sighed once more, his back hunching further than ever. "Haah... We really need some trustworthy Summoners, otherwise we're fuc-"

"PREPARE FOR BATTLE!"

Roaring, Titus charged to the front, chainsword in hand. Everyone quickly ran forward once they saw a cloud of dust emerging from afar. "Shit, we're getting raided by the beastmen now!? I thought I paid them off..."

Though gobsmacked at Duncan's sudden revelation, they had other priorities.

As the cloud of dust settled down, they were faced with crowds of hungry, desperate beastmen. From battle-scarred Wulfin warriors, to Catnese carrying their belongings in sacks, all the way to Sheeple dragging their myriad children behind them.

"What the...!?"

But when they thought they couldn't get more shocked, they couldn't have been more wrong. For at the front of the large crowd was an all-too familiar Wulfin girl leading the charge.

"See, Kiana's not so useless after all! Hmph!"
