Scene 1.0: Eorzea, Night Time, Age: 30 Years Before The Seventh Umbral Calamity
A village is being burned to the ground by the Garlean Empire as it's villagers are trying to fight back but to no avail as they are no match for the Empire's Magitek Weapons. A young boy is hiding, scared as he hears the scream of war and death ravaging his hometown. From a gap in his hiding place, he sees his father taking down every Garlean Soldiers he fought against with just a Weathered Shortsword & Square Maple Shield, but tragically he is taken down by a Garlean Legatus wearing a Silver White Armor. The young boy wakes up as a young teen in cold sweats as what he experienced was a traumatic nightmare of what happened to him in his youth. The next morning, he enters The Studium as he readies for his studies under the Sages of Old Sharlayan. While he sits in his desk, he starts reading on his lessons before the class starts as his Viera friend sits next to him.

Runa sees this and roll her eyes as she isn't surprised that her father held back his childhood friend in their academy years; this annoys Luminescence seeing Runa thinking her father is a troublemaker that she decides to shows the Xaela that around half of the misdemeanors were actually planned by Venase which Runa is shocked to see that Artemis' Mom was a troublemaker too. Luminescence laugh at Runa's surprise as she decides to move to her mother at The Azim Steppe…
Scene 1.1: Eorzea [The Azim Steppe], Morning
At the Settlement of Reunion, there is a commotion of the guards of the current Khagan pursuing 2 young Au Ra running away from them while carrying a wrapped box each as the two manages to move around the obstacles with relative ease. These 2 Au Ra are dressed in the colors of the Mol and Dothral manage to escape the guards, but a large Au Ra that is blending in the crowd saw everything. In a safe location in Nhaama's Retreat, both teenagers unwrap the boxes to reveal them to be filled to the brim with Meat and are enjoying it with delight.

Khadagan smiles and waves farewell at Sidurgu, and as soon as he is out of sight, she looks towards Bardam's Mettle as she is curious of this Black Dragon and decides to sneak her way into where this Dragon is hiding. Later that night, Khadagan sneaks out of her bed as she makes sure not to wake anyone up. As she arrives at where this Black Dragon is laying dormant, Khadagan is taken aback on how big it is and how its scales resemble her own or any other Xaela she have seen that her curiosity compels her to get closer for a better look at it.

That night, Faunehm not only told Khadagan of her father, but she also reminisce of her time with the Dragoons before the Dragonsong War began including a young Haldrath who she developed a close friendship with, until the war divided both Ishgard and Dravania. The reason she is drawn to Khaidai and Khadagan is their purple eyes which resembles Haldrath's Eyes. That brings a sense of sadness and nostalgia interacting with them as she hopes that one day, it'll be the Khadagan or her Children to end the Dragonsong War with the knowledge she is giving her.

Your mother's side…well, you just witnessed it. Your Grandparents were as curious as your mother so they went to Bardam's Mettle to encounter this Black Dragon. The rest is as they say, it's history. Without saying a word, Luminescence shows Runa her mother's epic fails that she went through all her life especially always getting hit with Bad Breath from either the local Purbols or their Seedlings which causes Poison, Paralysis, Slow, Heavy, Blind, Silence, Pacification, Max HP Down, and Determination Down with every encounter she has with them. Runa remembers something: During the years before the advent of the Seventh Umbral Calamity, one of Runa's Childhood Friends brought a Morbol Seedling to her parents' orphanage and as soon as Khadagan saw it, she ran away, hid in her room, locked the door and curls herself up in the corner of said room in the fetal position chanting an Old Kugane Warding Chant to ward off evil: "Oni wa Soto! Fuku wa Uchi!" which translates to "Devils Out! Fortune In!" and she chants it nonstop until Marcello returns home to calm her down. Runa facepalms because now she understands the truth behind her mother's phobia towards Morbols and their kind.
However Runa also can't help but to find Sidurgu, her mother's childhood friend who she interacted with resembles someone she knows. Luminescence reminds Runa of the Dothral's Traditions: When a Dothral dies, they are reincarnated as their children. The reason Runa finds it weird is because this Sidurgu is the father of her rival and friend, Sadu, the Khatun of the Dotharl. In her previous lives she has been both Male and Female with her father and ancestors being mostly Males. Runa is somehow, not in shocked as she remembers of her time interacting with both Sadu and Cirina during their time in Garlemald with Cirina politely turning down Magnai's advances at every turn and when she invited them to her island, only Cirina and Sadu showed up as they didn't tell Magnai. Then it clicked: Sadu and Cirina are an unofficial couple as they embrace the idea that Sadu used to be a Male reincarnated in a female body even though that's not how reincarnation works as Gosetsu stated a long time ago. But the moment she thinks of Sadu and Cirina being intimate with each other, her thoughts quickly changes to her and Artemis which Runa ended up slapping herself back to her senses. Luminescence laughs as she notices Runa is still fighting her true feelings towards her childhood friend and the reincarnation of her past love, Luna. As the years went on, both of Runa's Parents grew up in their respective family way, but with dismay as she sees her parents behaving in a very shameful way that she facepalms through seeing them like this that she's ashamed of them: Marcello is a Ladies Man like Cloud, is as Suave and Charismatic as Sephiroth from FFVII, but he's also Enthusiastic and sometimes Slow-Witted like Bartz from FFV. Khadagan is Fierce in Battle just like Lightning from FFXIII, but is as Clumsy as Gilgamesh most of the time outside of battle.
One day things took a turn: Marcello was kicked out of Old Sharlayan after a dispute with the Forum for them refusing to take part in the War against Garlemald, especially after Nael van Darnus brought about the Bozja Incident. Even after everyone in the world learned of the destruction of Bozja, the Forum is firmly adamant for Old Sharlayan not to take part in the war. But things escalated as Marcello uses Venase's Research on Dalamud and its connection to the attack on Bozja and the Forum not only exiles him from Old Sharlayan but also forbids him from ever returning. Venase seeing that the Forum is being unfair, she stands up against them on their decisions as rumor has it that she is favored to be a prominent candidate to join them due to her High Magical Affinity and Intellect; but that isn't enough to save her from getting the same treatment as Marcello: Exile and Banned From Ever Returning. Venase is disappointed on the Forum's stance that she removes her SGE Weapon and out of spite, destroys it with a Fire Spell. The one thing Marcello knows is to hurt Venase deeply is to ignore the Truth as she knows that ignoring it will leads to eternal suffering. They leave and never looked back as Louisoix tried to convince them to join him as members of the Newly Formed Scions of the Seventh Dawn, but refused because their presence would hamper their progress somewhat. Marcello and Venase say goodbye to their former teacher as they head to Eorzea, never to meet again with the Old Elezen.
Meanwhile in the Azim Steppe, Faunehm senses the power of the Primal Bahamut being stirred by the Garlean Empire with the destruction of Bozja. Not understanding what is happening, the Black Dragon awaits for Khadagan to return; and after looking after her and training her in the ways of the Dragoon, Faunehm feels like a Brood Mother towards Khadagan that she worries for her as she knows on how reckless the young Au Ra is. Faunehm is right to worry as she caused another mess at Reunion as she picked a fight with Kagon Tribe Members as Khadagan is bloodied after killing a few of them. She is arrested and taken to the current Khagan who has ruled Azim Steppe since her father's death. As Khadagan glares at the Ruler of the Land as she blames him for her father's death. He demands his guards to leave them, remove her bonds and return her lance; his guards oppose this but he guarantees them he's been the Khagan for over 10 Years and won't lose to the Daughter of Khaidai. Hearing his name, Khadagan got her confirmation that this man killed her father. The guards leave but wait outside and storm in at a moments notice if they believe their leader is in danger. Khadagan takes back her lance and readies herself to face off against the Khagan whose weapon of choice is an Ax as he is one of the strongest Au Ra from the Qerel, for he is the only one able to control The Will of Karash and avoid the fate of becoming part of The Taken like many among his tribe. They both battle it out with the Khagan winning with no effort.

I did not kill him…he gave up his life to save me. It was the day of the Naadam. We both participated then as members of the Qerel since the Mol refused him to join the Naadam. He wanted to be the Khagan in order to unite the Tribes of the Land. But I got scared that The Will of Karash would overtake me, so I held back too much that our enemies took advantage of this. He sacrificed himself to save me. His death helped me overcome my fear and I was able to subdue The Will of Karash. My greatest regret is that I couldn't save him and…you were left all alone. But I vowed to look after you on his behalf, but not directly as my duties as Khagan came first.

Khadagan is surprised on learning about this but also pissed off that Baidur called her and her father clueless. After hearing his story, Khadagan leaves the Dawn Throne proud of her parents upon learning so many things about them with one sticking out the most: To Unite The Tribes Under One Banner. As she spends the rest of the day with Sidurgu, during the night she meets up with her teacher and friend, Faunehm only for the Black Dragon tells her of the resurrection of the Primal Bahamut that was sealed at the end of the Third Umbral Era and brought about the Fourth Umbral Era. She claims that if the Garlean Empire summons the Elder Primal, the world will witness a Seventh Umbral Calamity that might even destroy the star this time around. Khadagan notice the sorrow in Faunehm's voice as she asks her teacher if the Dreadwyrm is resurrected, will this fuel Nidhogg's Rage even further. The Dragon replies with a firm Yes as Bahamut's Death at the hands of the Allagan Empire and used his image to cement their power in the star is one of the reasons her father wishes the eradication of not only Ishgard, but all living beings that are not Dragonkind. Taking her words seriously, Khadagan heads westward to Eorzea to confirm Faunehm's Suspicions.
Scene 1.2: Eorzea [Coerthas Central Highlands], Night
Runa sees both of Parents arrive in Eorzea with her Father and his best friend, Venase arriving in Ul'dah, only to be swindled by the Lalafell who own an Inn there and Khadagan arriving at First Dicasterial Observatorium of Aetherial and Astrological Phenomena in Coerthas Central Highlands, but she is spotted by an Azure Dragoon that he quickly pulls her our of sight tells her to get out of Coerthas as soon as she possibly can. For Ishgard is on high alert after Nidhogg and his Legion were spotted attacking villages around the Land of the Holy See. He also stated that a number of Heretics are on the rise and Thordan VII is paranoid that he ordered that anyone that looks like a Dragon to be executed on the spot, no questions asked. Khadagan states that she's an Au Ra, not a Dragon; but the Dragoon tells her that the Heretics assimilate the Blood of the Dragons and at times their bodies slowly changes to that of a Dragon. The other day an Au Ra Male was indiscriminately butchered as soon as the Knights of the Holy See caught a glimpse of him, the Dragoon tells her. Khadagan is in shock to hear this and asks him to where she should go, the Dragoon replies for her to head to Gridania and seek out his friend, Ywain Deepwell who is a member of the Wood Wailers and part of the Lancer's Guild. She takes his advice but not before telling him what Faunehm told her without revealing the Dragon's name or that it is a Dragon. The Dragoon takes her words to heart and try to warn Thordan about this, but before they part ways, Khadagan asks his name and he replies that his name is Ser Alberic Bale.
While in Ul'dah, Venase notices that being there with him won't help their financial situation and tells Marcello she's heading to Limsa Lominsa as Ul'dah is too expensive and the Guilds in that city doesn't incorporate Healer Techniques she can use. Marcello remembers that Limsa Lominsa does have an Arcanist Guild that have some healing techniques, but not enough to improve her healing capabilities. But she says that she might learn something that might improve it in a more offensive style, Marcello wonders why not go to the Thaumaturge Guild for that, but she replies that their alignment is closely tied to Black Magic and she is trying to stay away from that power as he witnessed during their days in Old Sharlayan. Marcello remembers that when Venase loses her temper, she summon a slew of fireballs at those who crossed her, so he understands now why she doesn't want to expand that side of her magical affinity. For years all 3 of them trained in their respective Guilds and Cities: Marcello in the Gladiator's Guild, Venase in the Arcanist's Guild and Khadagan in the Lancer's Guild. After mastering their prowess with their respective weapon of choice, the Guildmaster tells them to take part in Mythril Cup Tournament in Ul'dah; luckily Marcello lives in Ul'dah, Venase has a pass to return there from the officials, but Khadagan needs to go through tons of paperwork since she didn't arrive in Eorzea in an ethical way.
Scene 1.3: Eorzea [Ul'dah], Afternoon
After dealing with all that much paperwork in order to travel around Eorzea freely, Khadagan arrives at Ul'dah at the same time as Venase, but since the Au Ra is in a foul mood after going through all of that, she's highly stressed which prompts Venase to senses this and casts Esuna & Regen on Khadagan which she feels refreshed in return. She thanks Venase for the heals as she feels much better that she asks the Viera if she is going to take part in the Mythril Cup and she replied with a yes as she wants to test her prowess as a Healer while Khadagan brags that she is a Dragoon. Venase looks at her closely, scanning her every side of the Au Ra to asses if Khadagan is what she claims she is and upon noticing a faint Dragon Magical Aura emanating from her, it worries her as she recognizes the signature resembles that of Nidhogg. But keeping a straight face, Venase agrees that Khadagan is a skilled Dragoon due to her great aura of strength as the Au Ra nervously laughs saying that she's not that strong. Venase sees that Khadagan is modest and yet the worries of the faint Dragon Aura emanating from the Dragoon. As they both arrive to The Ruby Road Exchange to meet with Venase's Childhood Friend, they notice that he is late, so the Viera goes to reception desk to ask if he got here earlier and left a message for her. But while Venase is away, Marcello arrives and approaches Khadagan as he starts flirting with her, unknown to the Au Ra that this is the friend Venase was telling her about that she lash out at him for being a fresh womanizing flirt that she attacks him for not taking "No" for an answer. But thanks to his training, Marcello is able to dodge or withstand Khadagan blows and for some reason he can't explain, for the first time after being a flirt all his life, he actually likes the sass of this Au Ra that he can't help but tease her more and more. As soon as Venase returns, she sees Marcello being his usual womanizer self to Khadagan that the Viera has her Emerald Carbuncle to hit him with an Emerald Ruin III Spell to knock some sense into him.
Venase:

I haven't been affected by that curse, same can be said for others who took up the art.

That's because of 2 reasons. 1 – Most Healers never goes that deeply into the art. Think of it as a going down the Rabbit Hole of Insanity. You end up losing your sanity and the only way for you remain sane, you need to have a Vice that many would call you immoral. Like Venase has. 2 – Healing Magic is considered "Pure White Magic". Healers that have embraced that power to an even further extent than Venase has, they become something you fought in the First Reflection before – "Sin Eaters".

Not everyone knows it, especially that is considered forbidden knowledge. Emet-Selch, Venat and Hythlodaeus did. I'm pretty sure Hermes/Fandaniel/Amon and Lahabrea did as well. I mean, you know the Truth behind the War of the Magi. Some Magi went deep into their respective art, that a good number of them fell into insanity. I'll be brutally honest – Everything can lead you down the Path of Insanity if you dive way too deep into anything in life…
