Chapter 110: Didi Maxwell's Last Magic History Lecture
The night after midnight had just begun.
The students, completely unaware of what had happened in the castle's secret passage, all headed towards the first floor as the bell chimed.
Diana, holding Rose's hand, stealthily searched for the Prince of the Night among the crowd.
Emma held a book in her left hand, fiddling with the winged gold coin in her right, lost in thought.
In the temple, the black-haired girl in the Vampire Count costume finally awoke from her stupor.
No one noticed.
In a dark corner, a bat that should have disappeared the moment twelve o'clock arrived still lurked quietly.
...
The small pixie with butterfly wings returned to the top of the spiral clock tower.
Professor Didi Maxwell picked up a luminous pearl with her thumb and forefinger, raised it, and examined it carefully against the moonlight.
The pearl was round and flawless, a moon floating within it, vying for brilliance with the bright moon in the night sky.
"This is the Moon God's Tear?"
A voice sounded from behind.
Professor Didi Maxwell wasn't surprised. She said in a very calm tone, "The wheels of history have crushed too many things; we can always find references among them. Four eras ago, the legendary alchemist Martin, in order to create a Moon God's Tear, offered a kingdom with a total population of 5,764,801 as a sacrifice, finally receiving a response for a supporting set of the Moon God's Tear. And I merely borrowed sixteen believers and seven sacrifices to complete this experiment."
Professor Kazel appeared, his voice carrying a hint of a sigh, "So, it's over?"
"It's over, for now." Professor Didi Maxwell said leisurely, "Are you here to stop me?"
"No, I came to see you one last time."
...
Dark Demon struggled to poke his face out from LadyDevimon's ample bosom, gasping for fresh air.
Just as he was stealthily pulling out [Pride II], preparing to unleash it.
LadyDevimon suddenly whispered close to his ear, "Someone's coming."
A thought stirred in Dark Demon's mind, and he swapped [Pride II] for his House Card.
LadyDevimon instantly turned into light and entered it.
Only then did Dark Demon have a chance to observe his surroundings.
The walls of St. Marian's Castle, made of some unknown material, were completely undamaged even after being hit by the Arrow of the Moon.
Only some traces of explosions remained.
He quickly scanned past those traces and discovered the white feather remaining in the black sludge.
"Could this be..."
The only white feather that had appeared from beginning to end could only be that one.
Joy sparked in Dark Demon's heart. He quickly trotted over and picked up the Angel Feather, which emanated a soft white light, from the sludge.
The Angel Feather emerged from the muck unstained; merely holding it close brought an extremely comforting feeling.
Dark Demon opened his card case and carefully tucked it into the interlayer.
There were already four core materials in the card case's interlayer:
① Harpy Feather
② Mermaid Scale
③ Stuffed Bear Zombie's Button
④ Angel Feather
...
Patting his beloved card case, Dark Demon took out his magic pen again and carefully stirred the sludge left by the Moon Goddess a few times, confirming there was nothing else within, before finally standing up.
Although he still didn't quite understand how the Moon Goddess had suddenly disappeared.
But sometimes the result was more important than the process.
After confirming this, Dark Demon didn't immediately run to the temple.
In the temple were the men and women who had served as sacrifices, but also the Seafood Cult, which was very dangerous to him.
The best course of action now was to quietly wait for the professors to arrive.
And the professors indeed arrived shortly thereafter.
The first to arrive was not Professor Kazel or Professor Lily Laplace, whom Dark Demon was most familiar with, but an enormous black bear!
When that black bear rushed over on all fours, Dark Demon was genuinely startled.
But the black bear braked sharply and, after stopping, transformed back into a human—it was precisely Professor Pava Jones.
Looking at Professor Jones's smooth, bronze skin, Dark Demon breathed a slight sigh of relief.
"Dark?"
Professor Jones frowned at Dark Demon, then brandished the magic card in her hand and said, "Transformation card, a high-year course."
Dark Demon said "Oh." He knew about transfiguration—Robert's gender-bending magic was a type of transfiguration—but this was the first time he had seen a transformation card.
But there probably weren't many people like Professor Jones who had mastered "Advanced Transfiguration" so proficiently, right?
Professor Jones's gaze quickly shifted to the puddle of black sludge. She asked quickly, "Why are you here? Do you know what happened here?"
Dark Demon shrugged, "I know a little."
There was no need to hold back here.
After all, the matter had settled, and apart from the final battle, he was just an innocent bystander.
Professor Jones sighed in relief and walked towards the sludge, "It's good if there's an informant. Wait for the Headmistress to arrive, and then you can tell us together."
"Pava, I'm already here."
With a flash of light, a small spirit flew between the two.
It was a small sphinx-like spirit.
Dark Demon naturally recognized this as one of Headmistress Cynthia's nine spirits.
As for the Headmistress herself, perhaps she was still presiding over the ball.
Just as he was thinking, Dark Demon suddenly noticed a gentle breeze blow past him, and a person suddenly appeared at the temple entrance not far away—Professor Sarah Silf.
Professor Silf directly entered the temple. As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw the altar without its statue, and the students in front of the altar.
She immediately waved her hand, and a gust of wind blew out, passing directly through the students' bodies.
When it returned, that wisp of wind transformed into a finger-sized wind spirit.
"How are they?" Professor Silf asked with concern.
The wind spirit blinked and made an "ok" gesture with its tiny finger.
Professor Silf immediately sighed in relief; it seemed the students were not in mortal danger.
Afterward.
Dark Demon followed Professor Jones into the temple.
The temple looked like the aftermath of an event.
The candles on those magic circuits had already burned out, leaving only red wax residue.
The sixteen members of the Seafood Cult lay unconscious on the ground, the pink mist that had covered them like spiderwebs now gone.
Only thirty-four... thirty-three students were still unconscious due to the effects of the Soul-Lost Water.
The last black-haired girl, who Dark Demon had taken down in a few moves... was playing dead.
Virt Gold felt as if he had had a nightmare; he didn't want to wake up.
...
Under the professors' questioning.
Dark Demon recounted only the events he had encountered tonight.
Only when speaking about the start of the ritual, he changed his story, saying that after his attempt to disrupt the ritual failed, he was pursued by the resurrected Moon Goddess.
"In extreme fear, I slid and successfully escaped the temple. Afterward, that terrifying entity calling itself the Moon Goddess took out a divine bow, using moonlight as arrows, and shot at me as if hunting a stag. But she was clearly toying with me, deliberately missing several times. Finally, I found an opportunity, another slide... cough cough, actually, I don't know how she disappeared."
