Dominic's POV
I found her on the floor.
At first, I didn't believe what I was seeing. She was just… there—limp, pale, sprawled like a discarded doll in the corner of the office. The glow of her laptop screen flickered beside her, showing lines of code and hacked feeds that only she could navigate. My heart flatlined.
"Gia!"
I dropped everything—my phone, my thoughts, my composure—and ran to her. My knees cracked against the hardwood as I skidded beside her, pressing trembling fingers to her pulse.
It was there. Weak. Fluttering.
I scooped her into my arms, gripping her tighter than I should have. "Don't do this," I whispered like I could bargain with the universe. "Not you. Not now."
I didn't even remember getting her into the car. Just the panic. The drive was a blur of red lights I didn't stop for and my voice pleading with her to stay with me, even though she couldn't hear me.
The hospital was hell.
