The elevator moved up slowly, stopping at every floor as more people got on and off.
The tight space didn't help Micah's nerves. His back was pressed lightly against the wall, his arms folded as he tried to shrink into himself.
Beside him, Clyde leaned in slightly, his voice low and soft. "I have a room here," he murmured, the warmth of his breath brushing past Micah's ear. "You could hide in there until you think it's safe…"
Micah shivered. He wasn't sure if it was from fear of Clyde recognising him or from the ticklish warmth in his ear. Either way, he nodded quickly. "Okay…"
A quiet chuckle escaped Clyde's lips. "You're too trusting, little miss… what if I was a bad guy? You shouldn't say yes so easily."
Micah glanced away, the tips of his ears pink. "I believe in my judgment. You are a good man," he mumbled.
Clyde sighed with a slight smile. "So naive…"
