POV: Amara Kings
I jumped back as the crystal shard flew from my hand toward Elias. It stopped mid-air, floating inches from his chest.
"Elias, don't move!" I shouted, reaching out with my power.
The golden light flowing from my fingers wrapped around the shard, fighting against the dark smoke swirling inside it. The crystal pulsed furiously, pulling against my hold.
"What's happening?" Elias asked, stuck in place.
"It wants you," I said through tight teeth. "Just like The Mother wanted all of us."
With a final surge of power, I pulled the shard away from Elias and back to my palm. It burned against my skin, but I closed my hand around it anyway.
The Artemis Pack wolves backed away, fear in their eyes. Not fear of the crystal—fear of me.
"I didn't come to hurt anyone," I said, looking around at the suspicious faces. "I came to warn you."
Elias stepped forward, his wounds from our fight with The Mother still visible beneath his torn shirt. "Let's talk inside."
