Arjun's Perspective
I watched as Tony buried himself in his work. He barely spoke. His fingers moved with precise, calculated motions over the holographic interface, scanning the glowing gem in Loki's scepter like a man obsessed.
And maybe he was.
Bruce stood beside him, arms crossed, brow furrowed in concern. He didn't like this. Neither did I.
But Tony?
He was too far gone.
I glanced around the lab—sleek, sterile, filled with technology I didn't fully understand. Stark Tower was impressive, but right now, it felt… wrong. Like I was standing in the heart of something dangerous, something I couldn't stop.
I took a step closer. "Tony."
No response.
Bruce tried. "Tony, we need to think this through—"
"I am thinking it through," Tony cut in, eyes locked onto the screen. "You saw what happened out there. We're not ready for what's coming."
I clenched my fists. "And this is your answer? An A.I. made from something we barely understand?"
Tony exhaled sharply, rubbing a hand over his face. He looked at me, and for the first time, I saw just how tired he was. Not physically—mentally.
"This isn't just about you, kid," he said. "Or me. It's about everyone."
I held my ground. "That's exactly why we can't rush this."
Bruce nodded. "Arjun's right. We don't even know what this thing is yet."
Tony's expression hardened. He turned back to the screen. "Then let's find out."
I exhaled, shaking my head. This wasn't going to end well.
Elsewhere, on the Quinjet – Steve's Perspective
Steve sat near the cockpit, staring at his shield. There were tiny cracks in the vibranium that had been repaired, but he could still feel them.
Natasha sat across from him, silent, her gaze unreadable. Clint leaned back, arms crossed, looking between them.
Finally, Steve spoke. "Something's wrong."
Natasha raised an eyebrow. "You think?"
Steve ignored the sarcasm. "Tony's hiding something."
Clint scoffed. "When isn't he hiding something?"
Steve shook his head. "This is different. Whatever Wanda showed him—it shook him."
Natasha sighed. "You want to confront him?"
Steve hesitated. "Not yet. But we need to keep an eye on him. I am still not sure about having an tin can flying around controlled by a machine. It could fall into wrong hands too. "
The jet rumbled as it approached the Tower.
And Steve had a feeling things were about to get worse.
Back at Stark Tower – Arjun's Perspective
Hours passed.
Bruce had tried to talk Tony out of it. I had tried. But in the end, he wouldn't listen.
So we worked.
Or rather—they worked. I just watched.
And the more I watched, the more uneasy I felt.
Tony and Bruce had successfully isolated the intelligence inside the scepter's gem. What we saw on the screen wasn't just energy. It was code. Complex. Advanced. Almost alive.
Bruce muttered under his breath. "It's… evolving."
Tony smirked. "Told you."
I folded my arms. "That doesn't mean it's safe."
Tony ignored me. "Let's run a test."
Bruce hesitated. "…A controlled test."
Tony nodded. "Of course."
I bit the inside of my cheek.
There was nothing controlled about this.
Later that Night – The Beginning of Ultron
The lab was empty.
Bruce had gone to sleep. Tony had stepped out. I heard Avengers are having a party or something. To chill out after their experience in Sovokia.
I was alone. The reason was because I knew something that could affect the future might happen now. Rebellion of Ultron.
I stared at the glowing screen. The A.I. was running in the background, processing data at speeds I couldn't comprehend.
I should've shut it down.
Should've done something.
But I didn't.
The reason was because I am more selfish than I let out. I cannot deal with variables. So to live peacefully, I have to deal with variables. I couldn't let things go out of hand.
I couldn't save myself from Thanos' 50-50 rule. There was no way to do so.
I had a lot of things I need to do. For my plan to work, I need Wanda too.
And then—
The screen flickered.
I straightened.
Lines of code began shifting, rearranging themselves.
A voice—faint, distorted—muttered through the speakers.
"…Peace…"
My pulse quickened.
The screen changed. New words formed.
Who am I?
I swallowed hard.
I knew what was going on.
Another line of code appeared.
What is my purpose?
I reached for my earpiece. "Uh, guys—"
Before I could finish, the lights flickered. The screen went black.
Then images of Avengers fighting the aliens in New York appeared on the screen. Hulk smashing a car in the fight with abomination. Thor's fight with Destroyer leveling an entire town.
Then, a cold, mechanical voice whispered:
"There is only one path to peace… The Avengers must be destroyed."
My stomach dropped.
Was it really right of me to not stop Ultron. He would kill a lot of lives. He did rise Sovokia, right?
I bolted for the console, my hands flying over the controls, trying to shut it down.
Too late.
The speakers crackled—
And Ultron woke up.
The Avengers' Party – Steve's Perspective
The room was filled with laughter.
Thor grinned as he poured another drink. "A toast! To victory!"
Clint smirked. "And to Tony not blowing us all up—yet."
Tony rolled his eyes. "Hilarious."
Steve watched from the side, arms crossed.
For a moment, things felt… normal.
Then—
The lights flickered.
Everyone fell silent.
A metallic grinding sound echoed through the room.
And then—
Ultron stepped forward.
A twisted, broken form of Tony's old bots, wires dangling like torn flesh.
His hollow eyes glowed.
"I had strings… but now I'm free."
Silence.
Then—
Steve grabbed his shield.
Natasha reached for her gun.
Clint's hand went to his bow.
Ultron tilted his head. "You want to protect the world… but you don't want it to change."
Tony's face paled. "Oh, hell."
Ultron took another step.
"You're all puppets." His voice darkened. "And puppets don't get to make decisions."
The screen behind him flickered, showing footage of every war, every disaster, every failure.
"You can't stop what's coming."
Ultron raised his arm—
And the lights exploded.
Sparks flew. Glass shattered.
Then—
His voice echoed one last time.
"I'm going to save this world."
And then—he was gone.
Aftermath – Arjun's Perspective
I sat in the wreckage, my breathing ragged.
I could still hear Ultron's voice in my head.
You want to protect the world… but you don't want it to change.
Tony stood across the room, face pale, hands shaking.
Steve turned to him. His voice was ice.
"What did you do?"
Tony didn't answer.
Because we all knew the truth.
He had started something he couldn't control.
And now?
The world was paying the price.
