Chapter 125 - Twisted Misunderstandings

The next morning, when Mia woke up, she was surprised to find herself alone. She looked around the ward and didn't see any signs of her contractual husband, which made her wonder if he was even here last night, or if she was so out of it that she was imagining things. 

Mia ran a hand through her hair and exhaled heavily. She tried to ignore the subtle pang in her heart and muttered, "It doesn't matter." Whether he was here or not, it had nothing to do with her. Though she told herself that it didn't bother her. It did. 

"What doesn't matter?" 

Mia snapped her head up and looked at Lucas, who returned with a bag that most probably contained a lunchbox, as the printed text on the bag belonged to a well-known restaurant in the city. The man had eye bags and looked like he had a hard time the entire time last night, but Lucas was still as impeccable as always. Mia couldn't even see a single strand of his hair falling somewhere it was not supposed to.
