Chapter 11 - The Possession

The civilians are saying goodbye to the soldiers, some of whom have left for the allied cities. Magno then takes out a sword and raises his saber in front of everyone.

- Dear soldiers of Wiki City, have a safe journey, may the glory of your future deeds be duly celebrated and rewarded! - Magno shouts as his soldiers pass him on horseback, who salute at the sight of him.

But he thinks.

"I hope they do the job of teaching us how to operate the equipment as agreed."

With the soldiers, trucks accompanied each of them, which contained military equipment such as uniforms, helmets, weapons and other equipment.

However, Antonia accompanied him, in which melancholy still lingered within her, the girl obviously not having gotten over Charles' death.

Magno, for his part, has turned his sadness into anger and dedication.

But the girl doesn't care about everything around her at that moment, what she wants most is her older brother back, so when the event ends she leaves together with Magno without saying anything at all.

- Antônia, why didn't you say anything? - he asks worriedly.

She didn't answer, which made him think for a moment.

"I need to do something."

- Please, Antonia, tell me what's wrong with you?

Her tears start to flow and she screams.

- What do you think? We just buried our brother yesterday!

She immediately hugs him, crying and sobbing a lot.

- There's only you now, brother! Please don't die! I can't be alone!

He holds back his sadness, because he needs someone to console her and not make the situation even worse, and so Magno hugs her, trying to console her.

- You won't be alone, my sister, I promise you. - He speaks in a consoling way and tries to hold back his own sadness.

After a while of trying to console his sister, Ricardo finds them crying together.

"Maybe I've come at the wrong time."

Faced with this unusual occasion, he slowly closes the door, but Magno notices him outside.

- Ricardo! Come here!

When he was discovered, he fearfully complied with the order.

- Yes, sir!

He enters the place, where there is a table, chairs and a sofa, illuminated by a chandelier on the ceiling, he stands in the middle of the place and salutes, then Magno wipes away his tears.

- Why have you come, Ricardo?

- It's urgent, my lord, and... I'm sorry to interrupt you at this unfortunate moment.

His tears were slowly disappearing, revealing his eyes red from crying.

- No, have your trusted guards guard the entrance to the room, she needs some time to reflect, I tried to console her and ended up joining her in her melancholy.

- My lord, this is also something that requires your presence.

He looked back and saw that she was still crying, but not too much.

- I'm not going! I want to stay here! - She shouts, stopping crying.

Since there wasn't much time to waste, Ricardo quickly reveals the news right there.

- There's a general who wants to give you something that belonged to your late brother.

- What? Haven't you already handed over all his belongings to us?! - Antonia asks in confusion, having just stopped crying completely as she stands up.

- It looks like you've found the strength to carry on? - Ricardo asks

- I... I'll want to know the details.

- Charles had told us that when he died, we would receive it in a maximum of three days.

At the same time, the two of them set off to meet this mysterious general.

The mysterious general was Cobalsk himself, who was sitting in a chair in the meeting room and on two sides were soldiers holding wooden chests.

- Cobalsk! - says Magno, surprised to see him there.

He looked at them both and immediately noticed their red eyes.

- Were they crying? - he asks.

- Well... that's just it - Magno replies.

- I understand, the loss of a loved one is too painful, but that's beside the point.

Then he takes a picture from under the table and places it on top, covered by a large cloth.

- You can put soldiers on the table.

The two of them put it on the table and open the two chests, revealing various trinkets, mini sculptures, fragments of equipment and, above all, various old papers and small books.

- What's all this? - asks the girl.

Cobalsk looks serious as he answers.

- This is all your inheritance, everything in those chests came from your ancestors in your family, I went to look for my daughter's husband when the fighting was over, I didn't go there just to see if he was all right for my daughter, I also went there to see if he had protected all this, he was appointed by his brother to be the Guardian of the Feudal Family's Historical Heritage, he protected objects of the utmost importance, so much so that they couldn't stay in the castle, but rather, extremely hidden from everyone, including you.

They hold your sorrows.

- And a painting is one of them? - Magno asks.

- Not just any painting. - Cobalsk replies seriously.

Just as he removes the cloth from the top of the painting, revealing that it was a painting of their parents in their finery, at the time of their possession, decades ago.

- This painting was considered too valuable to keep in the castle by the late Lord Charles.

Magno and Antonia are paralyzed at the sight of the painting.

- This painting was made at the time when their parents had just taken over.

They both stare at the precious painting.

- However, you will only be able to receive all this when Magnus takes possession of the Fief, the Fief's government needs a new Feudal Lord.

- I... I will do my best to honor their legacy, whatever the cost.

Two days later.

Magno is leaving the small palace in the formal military clothes of the Wiki city, right behind him is Antonia, who is also wearing formal clothes, but not military ones.

"Now I'll have to honor their work and legacy."

The soldiers protect them, separating the crowd enthusiastic about the new feudal lord.

Ricardo then opens the carriage wearing formal military clothes from Wiki City.

- Sir. - He comments when he sees him coming.

And entering in silence, Ricardo shouts to the other knights.

- Protection! Now!

The knights immediately begin to surround the carriage, making sure the path is clear and removing the crowd in the carriage's way.

With that, they head for a cathedral, but on the way, Magnus looks thoughtfully out of the carriage window.

"There's a lot to do, but now I'll have the power to take revenge on them once and for all, the transition has been very calm, I just wanted it to never happen, I was counting on being the teacher of my brother's children and just ruling Wiki City, but this coup attempt has made me see all those plans crumble in my hands."

Then, arriving in front of the cathedral, which has an extremely detailed Gothic architecture that was not damaged during the fighting in the Feudal Capital.

As they got out of the carriage, they entered the cathedral, the same cathedral where he was baptized, the same place where Antonia was also baptized, with extremely sturdy wooden benches, statues of saints made of marble, large paintings and pictures depicting sacred events.

His generals and Charles' generals, who had made the deal with Magnus, were already inside the cathedral sitting on the benches, all dressed in formal military clothes.

Besides them, there was a bishop waiting for him at the altar at the end of the cathedral.

So as soon as Antonia sat down on the bench in front of the altar, Magnus went to the bishop, while the generals and subnobles loyal to him stood still as he reached the bishop.

"I didn't want to do this, but for my sister's safety, I'll have to take over my brother's position."

When he arrived in front of the bishop, he knelt down and said the words of the investiture ritual.

- Lord has brought me here, to the Holy House of God, I have come for this hour, this moment, I have received God's call and I have come to answer it.

The bishop smiles confidently.

- Then, by divine grace, I will grant you the sacred power from God to govern the great and blessed Fiefdom of the Seven Lakes.

Then the bishop hands him a silver sword and a small spherical silver orb decorated with jewels and with a gold cross on top.

As he holds them, Magnus recites a speech in a language in which he is told to do magic, the same one Charles used to fight the Hero of the Bow.

He does this with his eyes closed and as he finishes he sees all the guests, watching him hold the sword in his right hand and the orb in his left.

Then the bishop, while saying a prayer in the same language as Magnus, places a light blue sash with the coat of arms of the Fief painted in the center of the sash on Magnus.

Having finished praying and putting on the sash, the bishop steps back a little and says.

- May God bless you with wisdom, courage and determination to rule the Fief of the Seven Lakes!

As the bishop speaks, he thinks, looking at everyone in front of him.

"My brother left to protect my sister and me, now I'll make sure his sacrifice wasn't in vain, then I'll replace them in his position and preserve my family's legacy."

Meanwhile, in a place far from the Feudal Capital, Rubion is planning the insurgent offensive against the loyalists with the help of his generals.

But back to where Magno is.

Magno is thinking as he watches everyone listen to the bishop announce that Magno Histol Kirbom is the new Feudal Lord of the Feud of the Seven Lakes.

"I have a mission to unite the people of my fief again and lead the fief in a war, but I also have to protect my dear sister and everyone who trusts me."

Soon everyone is shouting at the same time from their seats.

- Long live the new Lord of the Seven Lakes!

This echoes throughout the city, the church bells ringing non-stop, announcing the inauguration of the new feudal lord.

This is the beginning of a new era for the Feud of the Seven Lakes, or perhaps for the world.

But only the future will tell.
