Chapter 95 - The Trial: Part One

Every instinct in Alexander's body said war, but this wasn't the kind of battle they'd trained for. This was something else entirely, but the potential for destruction was immense.

"They won't come as an army," Rhea said, tracing a line across a celestial chart. "The Concord sends emissaries. Judges. Each will represent an aspect of balance. One for time, one for memory, one for consequence, and one for future."

"Sounds friendly," Victor muttered. "When did everything get so biblical?"

"Front row seats to the apocalypse," Layna said, popping a potato chip into her mouth with a wry smile.

"I don't recall buying tickets for that," Victor chuckled.

"They won't harm us unless we fail the test," Rhea said, not looking up. "But their judgment will be final. And irreversible."

Terrance looked to Alexander. "So what's the test?"

Alexander exhaled. "The pups. Jax, Lily, and Nyla. The devil's daughter. What could go wrong?"
