Luna had only asked out of curiosity. After all, they were no longer seated in the council room—it felt less formal here, more relaxed—so she had half-expected to see Ravhiel around.
But she would be lying if she said that was the only reason she asked.
She wanted to see how they'd react.
As soon as the question left her lips, the tension at the table shifted. The warm murmur of conversation that had filled the air during the meal came to a screeching halt.
Eyes that had just moments ago been watching her eat with unsettling interest now flicked away, avoiding her gaze as if her words had conjured a ghost no one wanted to acknowledge.
'I was so uncomfortable with them staring at me before,' Luna thought, her fingers clenching lightly around the wooden edge of her plate. 'Now, the second I mention Ravhiel, they can't even look at me. Just as I expected.'
