Chapter 49 - Future boss lady

As the moon slowly descended into the valley and the sun quietly climbed up the hill, a new day began.

A gentle breeze lifted the blue curtains, brushing against the man.

His light blue eyes, as bright as glass, now had a tinge of crimson. His hair was slightly disheveled, and his face bore an expression of deep exhaustion.

Yet, even in such a disheveled state, his strikingly handsome features remained unaffected.

The long, grueling night had finally come to an end.

The sound of a key turning in the lock echoed.

The door opened.

Ignatius walked in, holding an opaque cup with a straw sticking out of it.

"Young Master, are you feeling any better?" Ignatius approached Royce's side.

Royce silently stood up, "Yes."

"Drink this, it will help."

Royce took the cup from Ignatius. The warm liquid flowed into his body, and indeed, he felt somewhat better.

He quickly finished the drink and tossed the cup into the trash can.

"Prepare the car."

"Young Master, perhaps you should rest at home today," Ignatius suggested cautiously.

"I have an engagement party to attend tonight. Get my clothes ready."

"Yes, sir."

Royce stretched his long legs and walked out of the room directly.

Ignatius sighed quietly, knowing that Royce was in a foul mood and didn't dare to stop him.

After the full moon, Royce's mood indeed soured. He was a hybrid, a sealed hybrid.

The vampire clan couldn't accept him, and he had to hide his true nature in human society.

When would this cursed seal finally be lifted?!

Throughout the entire day at the company, Royce's mood was terrible. He practically chewed out everyone who dared to enter his office.

His gloomy face made everyone in the company walk on eggshells, not even daring to breathe loudly.

In the conference room:

Everyone in the game development department had their hearts in their throats. It was well-known that Royce was in a bad mood today.

But this meeting had to happen.

Obsidian Empire had built its empire on games, and in recent years, the gaming industry had become increasingly competitive.

Yet, Obsidian Empire remained undefeated. Whether it was large-scale games, small games, or mobile games, every game developed by Obsidian Empire consistently ranked in the top ten.

Especially the large-scale games developed by Obsidian Empire—if a gamer hadn't played one of them, they might as well have never played a game at all.

"A month ago, what did I ask for?" Royce's deep, raspy voice sounded as if it came from the depths of hell.

The people in the game development department were all personally recruited by Royce. It was well-known that the core of this department was Royce himself; he was the genius behind game development.

Therefore, his expectations for this department were extremely high.

Behind closed doors, everyone called Royce"the Demon King."

And he truly lived up to that name.

No one dared to speak.

Bang! Royce's fist slammed onto the table, leaving a dent on its surface.

"Are you all deaf? Speak up!" His low, menacing voice echoed once more.

He didn't shout or raise his voice, yet it was terrifyingly effective.

Several people swallowed hard. They thought that as long as everyone stayed silent, President Butler couldn't single anyone out.

Just then, Royce's phone rang.

In the silent conference room, the ringtone was piercingly loud.

Oh my God!

Who had the guts to call the Demon King?!

Please, Buddha, let this call distract him.

But what they saw next was unbelievable!

Royce's lips twitched, and then he actually smiled!

What the heck—

Were they seeing things?

Some even rubbed their eyes, doubting their own vision!

Royce answered the call, "Hey, missing me already after just one day?"

On the other end of the line, Julia heard this and wished she could throw her phone into the toilet!

"Can you be serious for a moment?"

"I am serious."

"You left in such a hurry last night that I didn't get to tell you about the engagement ceremony. It's at the Imperium Grand Hotel. Where should we meet? Or should I just go straight to the hotel and meet you at the entrance?"

Julia rattled off her words without giving Royce a chance to respond to his "serious" demeanor.

"I'll pick you up from your place."

"Alright, same spot as usual. Gotta go, you're busy."

Julia didn't give Royce any more chances to be "serious" and hung up the phone directly.

Royce's face lit up with a smile. Even though the call had ended, he continued to stare at his phone screen, lost in thought.

Everyone in the meeting room was stunned!

Royce snapped back to reality and stood upabruptly. "Meeting adjourned!"

With that, he walked out of the conference room.

He couldn't wait to see her.

But he overlooked one question: since when did he become so eager to see her?

As soon as Royce left, the development team members in the meeting room finally dared to speak.

"Is President Butler in love?"

"Is the caller the boss's future wife?!"

"Are we going to have to cozy up to the boss's wife from now on?!"

After hanging up the phone, Julia stared blankly at the address on the invitation card.

Imperium Grand Hotel.

"Julia, when I marry you, it will be at the most luxurious hotel in Zenith City, the Imperium Grand Hotel."

"Julia, I want to make you the happiest bride in the world!"

The promises made by the man when he was eighteen had finally come true, but they were fulfilled for another girl.

How ironic.

Julia returned to Prism City, checked the time, and started to put on makeup and change clothes.

Her stepmother, Penelope, had already called her twice, merely to remind her not to make a scene at the engagement party and to behave herself.

Even her biological father had called, telling her not to disgrace the Avery family.

Ha! She was used to it by now. The pain had numbed her long ago.

Royce also left work earlier than usual and returned to Crystal Gardens, where Ignatius had already prepared his outfit.

A bespoke G.S. suit.

Royce adjusted his suit, glancing at his reflection in the mirror. His captivating face and physique looked even more alluring in the perfectly tailored black suit.

"Julia, today I'm going to make you proud!"

With a snap of his fingers, Royce tightened his tie.

A pink tie.

Such a bold color didn't seem out of place on Royce; instead, it added a touch of warmth to his already charming demeanor.

After another quick check in the mirror to ensure everything was flawless, Royce was ready to head out.

Ignatius burst into the room, "Master! Master! Master!"

Calling out three times, the bald man seemed unable to contain his excitement.

"Speak," Royce said coldly.

"Guess who's outside!"
