Adrian stared at the message floating in his vision:
He knew exactly what it meant. The soul harvested by the System. Absorbing it.
Yet, a flicker of caution held him back. What would merging with another soul do to him? Would it change who he was? Overwrite parts of him? The possibilities were as terrifying as they were tempting.
He had to know the risk.
"Would assimilating... this soul cause me harm in any way?"
[No]
The single, stark reply surprised him. The System rarely answered direct questions about its deeper functions so plainly. He felt some relief, but he wasn't satisfied. It said no harm, but what exactly was the purpose? "What is it for? What would the assimilation accomplish?" Adrian pressed.

Silence.
Adrian wrestled with his doubts. The Tech Core had guided him this far, albeit mysteriously.
He doubted the System meant him harm, he was it after all. Skepticism would only him nothing.
