Chapter 320 - Released

The way the doctor referred to everyone was very intimate. He even knew about Alexandre, which was just a nickname. That wasn't his name. She never knew his real name either, and never tried to find out.

The doctor left, and she went to the steel cupboard and found clean clothes. Surely Maxwell had arranged it. Her dirt-stained clothes were in the garbage can. She took off her hospital gown and went out into the corridor. She thought they had forgotten her, but at her door she met one of her father's security guards. She looked further down the corridor, and in another hospital, she saw security guards guarding other doors. She imagined that one of those doors was Adam's bed. She longed to go and see him, but held back. He had told Max that he needed some time, and she would respect that. The security guard at her door offered to guide her to where her husband was waiting. And she returned to the hospital where she was staying, delighted to learn that she could do astral travel. She gladly accepted the security guard's invitation.

They arrived in the waiting room, and only Max was there. He smiled at her, and she hurried to squeeze him in a hug that said many things. One of them was how much she missed him. She also noticed that he had changed his clothes. And she was pleased about that. Even though she knew it must have been because the other one was stained with blood. She didn't want to kiss her husband when he was dressed up as Adam.

Maxwell bent down, and they exchanged a long, passionate kiss.

"Where are Dad and your moms?" Anna asked as soon as they reluctantly pulled away from the kiss.

"They've gone. Mom decided it would be better if you two talked another time, when you've decided what it's going to be. We can still rest for a few days here in the States, we can go on a honeymoon we've never had, or we can go to our new home... I'm telling you, there's no private jet left for us. We'll have to go the conventional way."

"I don't care how we go, Max. I still want to go today. I want to reduce the distance between my children as quickly as possible. This month has seemed like years."

"As you wish, my wicked little witch." Max said, taking her hand and leaving the hospital with her. They were going straight to the airport. They sat in the back of the car and one of her father's men was at the wheel.

"And Tayme? Have you heard from her?"

"She and Jenna haven't arrived at boarding school yet, but they're on their way. Jenna says she hasn't asked anything, and she hasn't said anything either. But she agreed to eat normally. She's just quiet and overthinking things.

"Tayme knows she's not going home. That's the reason for her silence. And she's pensive because she doesn't want to show her fear. She understands that she's going to be away from her brothers and from us. And what's worse, she knows why."

"How can you know all this?"

"I have a different connection with her now. And besides... I know her well."

"You know I don't agree with you about sending her away from us, right?"

 Anna looked coldly at Maxwell.

"Do you need to feel better, Max? Do you mean that I'm the only one responsible for my daughter not being able to grow up and live day to day with her family? You're to blame for this decision, Max. Control your penis, or the next person to live away from their family will be you. I'm not going to exile any more of my children because of you!"

"Calm down, Anna, I just think..."

"I know what you think, Max. And by the way... I'm just going to ask you one more time, and then I'll never bring it up again. What did you do with Camille?"

"I've already solved this problem. But I haven't done everything you asked. I can't... Camille is already losing too much. Can you imagine never seeing other people again?"

It was a vague answer, but Anna understood. He felt compassion for his sex slave and would keep her, well hidden from her.

Anna understood that he wouldn't allow her to suspect for a second that he had a mistress. There was a silver lining. She wouldn't have to live with pitying looks. No one close to her would know that her husband had a mistress. She took a deep breath, enjoying this simple gesture, but it meant a lot to someone who was buried, unable to breathe and unable to move. Adam planted the claustrophobia in her, but it seems that in the end, he was the only one who lost everything.

 ...

The doctor entered Adam's room before the others. He stopped silently and made notes on his clipboard.

"What happened?" Adam asked, without turning to him.

"I'm prescribing some antibiotics. I expect you not to drink anything alcoholic for the next seven days."

"Neither alcohol nor antibiotics work on me." He replied impatiently.

"You have a cellar full of werewolf wine in your house. And everything you import from DreamStone works on us werewolves. And as for the antibiotics, they were developed for you. I made them after your father was poisoned to death."

"Will you let me go home?"

"I see no reason why you should stay here."

 "What about the others?"

"I'll just keep Alexandre. He'll be staying here for a few more days." The doctor said sarcastically. "The other wounded will also be released today."

Adam turned to the doctor. He didn't tell him about Anna, even though he knew that was all he wanted to know, but he turned his gaze to the ceiling. He wasn't going to ask. He had to start forgetting that he had once loved her.

When Adam left the room, he saw Henry's men watching all the rooms that were occupied by his men, as well as his own room. He walked with difficulty, and the security guard helped him to the parking lot, where Mycon was waiting earnestly for him. He could have sworn he saw Caricature, but now he didn't know if he was just delirious. He got into the car, and Mycon sped off.
